What photo editing software do you use?  I'm doing the 30 day trial for lightroom 3 and like it a lot even though I know nothing about editing.  What do you think of these edits.  The last edit I think may be too green.

  • Nice picture/edit.  I actually don't think the first one is that bad unedited.  I do agree that the second edited one is a tad too green.  Maybe lower the saturation a bit?

I've never used lightroom, so I don't know anything about that.

Right now, I have Photo Shop Elements 7.  I haven't used it in awhile but it's fairly good.  Before that, I used a free softward called GIMP.  IT basically acted the same as PSE and actually had a few more features that only the full version of Photo Shops has (i.e. curve adjustments).  Elements is nice because quite a few people offer free downloads of effects/tools that you can apply to your pictures. Pioneer Woman has some good ones.  I think I've read that if you are in school (or know someone is school) some universities offer a significant discount on the full version of PhotoShop (to the point it costs about the same as Elements, so you may want to look into that).  Also, if you go the Elements route, places like Costco usually sell it cheaper than Best Buy or any other electronics store.

  • I can actually qualify for the student discount which is great because the normal version of lightroom is $300 but the student discount makes it $99.  All adobe software has student discounts apparently I just have to take a picture of my student ID and email it to them.

Normally our fall colors here are really vibrant but we had such dry weather this year that they are really dull.  That's what I was trying to make them more vivid.  I'm definitly going to go back and lessen the green.
