Re: Since I'm sitting in the airport POLL
What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? A book, and since I usually have my purse too, I have to have chapstick.
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? Cell phone charger. It always goes in my carry-on but I have never had to use it. It could have gone in my checked bag.
Favorite/least favorite airline? Well, we all know of my love for Delta now. I liked flying Southwest when I flew on them. Their customer service was great!
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? I love taking off. My least favorite is the beginning descent into our destination. If we have a crappy pilot my ears ache so bad!!!

What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? A book. I have to be able to pass the boredom with reading. I read a book each way on our trip last week. Also, my big blue blanket. It is much more comfy than the airline ones.
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? I am such a horrible "in case of" person so there are lots of things. I packed socks last week in case my feet got cold on the airplane and never used them.
Favorite/least favorite airline? Really no preference. We fly Delta a lot because we are in Atlanta and have skymiles with them.
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? I actually love the thrill of flying. How, one minute you are in one city and in a few hours you can be somewhere else totally different. It all seems very romantic to me! However, I hate being in that small of space, all cramped up. I am a bit claustrophobic and it freaks me out if I actually think about it. That is always why I get a window seat, so I can see out. Also, not a fan of all the steps to fly somewhere (for us, getting on the subway, then checking in, going through security, customs, passport control, etc.). I wish I could just show up and get on the darn flight!

What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? one outfit, spare glasses, under-stuff
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? extra shoes
Favorite/least favorite airline? NW / NW LOL
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? work = finding a fun group of people at an airport bar duing layovers delays, personal = getting on the plane and being excited about the trip
least fav = turbulence hands down
What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? Book, and chapstick, I usually sleep on the plane
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? I have this need to pack sneakers, but rarely end up wearing them and they take up A LOT of room, so I don't know why I do it.
Favorite/least favorite airline? Favorite: SW or Airtran, Least Favorite: America West and USAir
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? Favorite: there's just something about hopping on a plane and then getting off at your destination, Least Favorite: the popularity and ease of flying now, I remember as a kid when it was a big deal to fly, but now you sort of feel like cattle most of the time, I mean you don't even get food anymore. I was surprised to get peanuts and cheese nips when I went to Florida earlier this month.

a change of clothes, bathing suit, toiletries (sp?), a book, iPod and charger, gum, laptop and charger, cell phone and charger, DVDs, trip itinerary emails.

Favorite/least favorite airline?
Favorite - Korean Air. Great/friendly service, comfortable seats for a huge jet, awesome food, good movies.
Least - Air Canada. Service was bad, food was bad, seats were small and uncomfortable, bad movies.
Favorite/least favorite part of flying?
Favorite - take off. I love the feeling of leaving the ground and realizing that you are actually flying.
Least - Landing. I usually get a little motion-sick from all the rocking back and forth, and turning. I never get physically sick, just a headache and slight nausea. Same with turbulence.
What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? Magazines, Gum, IPod, Itinerary, Dramamine, snacks.
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? Nothing is coming to mind...

I always have to have chap stick, hand sanitizer, a book/ipod and chewing gum.....Additionally, I ALWAYS pack a miniature toothbrush, toothpaste and a clean pair of underwear.
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use?
The underwear. I never need it, but darn it, if my luggage ever goes missing, I'll be prepared.
Favorite/least favorite airline?
Favorite airline is Southwest. Least favorite is American. I use to fly about 15 times a year with the old job.
Favorite/least favorite part of flying?
Favorite part of flying is people-watching at the airport. Least favorite part is the anxiety of taking off and landing.

What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? ipod
Favorite/least favorite airline? Not a huge fan of United. I liked the last Delta flight that I took.
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? Wow, I'm in the minority - I love landing but HATE take-off.
What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? Music/Mags/Book
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? I couldn't say since I dont fly that much.
Favorite/least favorite airline? I dont have a least, but my favorite is Alaska, because we have airmiles with them i am Alaskan:)
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? Favorite is looking out the window at night seeing lights down below, least is the smell... it makes me sick!
What are some things that you must have in your carry-on? book, phone, charger, water bottle
What is something that you always pack but hardly every use? probably half the clothes and most of the shoes. I am trying to be better but I just like to have a lot of options when I dress...
Favorite/least favorite airline? Favorite, don't really have one. Air France was nice when I went to France in '99. Least is SW. Yeah their customer service is good and their flight attendants can be hilarious but I like to be able to have an assigned seat. I hate the free for all that is boarding
Favorite/least favorite part of flying? Fav- getting places quickly, least - everything else
I used to be a terrible flier, but I'm getting better...
I used to hate this too because when we flew as a team, we couldn't do the whole 24-hours-before check in because they were group tickets. We would always be in the "C" group
However, because there were so many of us, it wasn't that bad. I once asked a SW pilot why they did it like that and he said that SW surveyed thousands of passengers and discovered that people would rather pick WHO they sat by then WHERE they sat. It makes since but it can be annoying when you are in the A group and you find the perfect seat and then someone in the C group is forced to sit by you because there are no other seats left...
It feels like you are being pushed into an assembly and the not cool kids get the leftover seats that suck because the cool kids get first choice.
I feel like most airlines take care of the who you want to sit next to when you travel together. Almost always Nick and I get to sit next to each other on flights, but on SW if we are late, we are screwed and both have to sit in the middle away from each other. That I did NOT like.
It wouldn't be soo bad if my husband was incapable of being early to flights. We always seem to be just getting onto the plane which drives me crazy. So I like to know that I have a seat somewhere, rather then having to search for the remaining seat.

Very true. And sometimes, you get that one d-bag who won't switch seats with you.....
Very true. And sometimes, you get that one d-bag who won't switch seats with you.....
That happened on our last flight but not on SW. We didn't book our tickets and we were in a group so we were one row behind each other. Both of us had the window seat, and the lady that sat next to Nick refused to switch seats with me even though she knew we were "newlyweds". Then she proceeded to talk to him the ENTIRE flight.
