Can I use my Dyson on Berber carpet?

I just received the Dyson DC25 Animal and am planning to use it tonight, but I just want to be sure, am I able to use this on Berber Carpet?   

I've read conflicting blogs and I'm coming to you ladies for the right information.  I would hate to return it because I've been wanting one for so long.  Please let me know.  BTW, I have wool carpeting in my hallway and staircase which I'm thinking is fine to use this on.

    I have the DC 25 and so does my mom.  We both use it on berber carpet without any problems.  If you are worried about the brushes on the carpet you can turn the brushes off when you clean- its the button next to the power switch.

    The only time I've ever had a problem with my Dyson on berber is in areas where the carpet was already fraying. Then it pulled up the string and made a run in the carpet. But that was my fault and would have happened regardless of the type of vacuum.

    I had the same experience as Hudson above.  My dog's nails would sometimes pull the smallest tuff out of the berber, but it was enough for the Dyson to grab and cause a run.  We replaced the berber with the "new shag" and haven't had a problem since.
