Ideas for a family getaway???
Hi,
My husband and I are new to the area( he is here for school) and looking for a little getaway. We have 3-6 days to play with and looking for a getaway for me, DH and our kids (6, 4, 3, 1). Been looking into Great Wolf Lodge in Charlotte but is a little pricey and I am unsure b/c my youngest is 18 months, and I'm not sure how much she can do. Also interested in Asheville, but having trouble finding a family place to stay. Willing to dive 6 -ish hours from Durham and would like a pool (for kids) or hot tub (for us) if possible. Any suggestions??? Any ideas appreciated!! TIA!!! Caroline

Beaufort NC is a cute little town and if you want to go to the beach you can head over to Atlantic Beach. If you like history, you can check out Fort Macon. There is also a NC aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.
It should only take about 3-3.5 hours to get there from Durham.
Caroline! I know you from when I nanny'd for CJ!
What about Gatlinburg, TN? It's about 6 hours away.
I'm sure you've probably been to Wilmington before, but a lot of people haven't tried Southport. It's about 30 minutes from Wilmington and is a small historic town. You can ride the ferry over to Ft. Fisher and visit the aquarium or the beach.
It's starting to get a little chilly here, so you probably wouldn't hang out in bathing suits, but it's still nice enough to stroll on the beach.
