My Shopping Blog
I have a list of things to shop for today (regular, "usefull" stuff), and a cute top or two might accidentally sneak in there too.
i think it's time to defriend a few people in real life not just fb.
friend #1 - invited me and dh to his wedding. cancelled said wedding to elope. invited us to the shower. decided not to elope and have a wedding here at a different place. but this time, we didn't get invited.
friend #2 - came to my shower and wedding with a date and didn't give a gift. now she is getting married and having a decent sized wedding but didn't invite us.
i'm pissed about this but mainly bc i just wanted to go to fun weddings not because i care about these people THAT much

Is this the friend that gave you and DH color suggestions for your attire for the wedding???
of course :-)

This may be a stupid question... but what does FFF mean? Nd is there a list of commone ackronyms used on the Nest somewhere?
I feel so lost
I totally agree with this. I think it glorifies teen pregnancy and makes teens think they can get reality tv shows, become celebrities, etc. I think its disgusting and I refuse to watch.
Same goes for shows like Toddlers & Tiaras. I refuse to watch that kind of reality tv.
What is she doing?
I don't see how. There is nothing glamorous about having to give your kid up for adoption and live with a meth addict Mom. There's nothing glamorous about having to work, go to school, take care of your kid and still be unable to make ends meet. There's nothing glamorous about living in a filthy hovel of an apartment, stuck with a BF/GF that you hate and you fight all the time.
I've never seen anything on those shows that has made me thing "squeee! being a teen mom looks so darn fun!".
I also don't understand how you think they tell kids that it's ok to not know anything about birth control. At every episode they have a PSA that "teen pregnancy is 100% preventable", and then list a website where they can go for more information.
I think it's fine if you don't like the show, but to say they glorify teen pregnancy and teach that ignorance of birth control is okay is really not accurate...
I love when people put links in their post, but hate when it pops up in the same window. I like them to pop in a new window or tab, but I know this is my personal preference.
Even though I was wearing a bright pink shirt and carrying a fluorescent yellow water bottle, I still almost got hit by two cars this morning on my run...even though they could have moved over a little bit in their lane. I was only on a road with no sidewalks for a short distance. Geez people.
Amy: dying to know what the birthplan is! I judge women that have home births because I don't think it's safe...at least I can't get flamed for saying that.
Oh, contraire.
I am not going to say for 2 reasons:
1. I have no idea if she reads these boards and would not want her to ever find it.
2. I am not starting a debate on birth plans.
1. Fair enough
2. But debates are so fuuuun! And the board has been slow!
I don't get off of work for another hour and a half, but my brain has turned off. Where is that darn on switch?
But you are a grown adult, not a teenager watching the show. An adult understands the responsibilities having a baby is.
BUT they're on tv. and the cover of gossip magazines. and on the internet. so, i think eva is saying that the show, while it does show the "reality" of teen parenthood...also shows that sometimes, you get lucky and get 'famous".
but i also think the rate of teen parenthood is COMPLETELY to blame on abstinence-only education, and lazy parents.

Ah, I see your point. Yes, I can see that. I was referring to the show only, not any subsequent magazine covers or anything like that.
