it's cold in my house!

but I totally don't want to turn on the heat!!!  Turning on the heat is like giving up on the cooler end of summer and going into winter. :(  I wish we had more of a spring and fall before it really gets cold or hot.   My thermostat says 68, and usually it's set on 70, so it's not too much cooler than usually.  Maybe it's because I'm doing nothing.

  • Put a hoodie on!!  I'm loving that I can wear sweatshirts inside and not sweat to death!

  • Yeah, I agree w/ Stu. Put a sweater on or cuddle on the couch with a blanket. That's what I normally do when I get cold but not enough to actually turn the heat on.
  • Adam loves, loves, loves hoodie wearing weather.  He gets so excited!! LOL

  • Hoodie, blanket, tea, and cuddle with a furbaby. Smile
  • haha oh my, you would freeze to death in my house, in the winter its on like 65!  We dont want the high heating bills, lol

We haven't turned our heat on yet and this morning I got up for work and it was 57 in the house!!!!! Now thats cold!

  • Our furnace died when we went to turn it on for the season so it hasn't been over 65 in the house in a week.  It's going to get up to 58 today outside so that's exciting.  We don't get our new furnace until Tuesday so it's blankets and sweatshirts for me until then!

Wow and I thought we kept ours low!!  I'm excited that our power bill will be super low this month, as will our gas bill because we're not using AC or heat!! :)  Our power bill got up to $150 this summer because we keep it so cool in here.  On those 100+ degree days, it was on almost nonstop.

The AC this summer killed our electric bill, it was DOUBLE what it is in the winter and we didn't even have it super chilly in the house.

I've never heard of doing this.  Why do you do that and where do you live that you have to do that?

we do this too!!! It def helps.  We do it on the windows along the back of our house because they are old and drafty and we cant afford to replace them yet.  This kinda blocks the draft.

  • It is raining outside and I have the office doors open and am enjoying the weather. It is I think 70 today! It is awesome!

I say a hoodie and something warm to drink! But if you are to cold turn on the heat. I can't wait to turn on the fire place.

    You people are nuts!

I tried being cheap, but HH can't seem to stand the sight of me burrowing down under blankets. He keeps turning it back up to 70 so I'm comfortable. I turn it down a bit at night and while we're at work during the day, though.

My parents did this when I was little before my dad replaced the windows. It really helps keep the heat in during the winter.
