possibly moving to Boston
Hi. I'm mostly a lurker on the boards, but I was hoping for some much needed advice from you ladies. My DH might be getting a job in downtown Boston and I am needing to know where to start looking to live. We have a 1 yr. old and a dog and are coming from D.C. area. We currently live in a fairly suburban area, landscaped neighborhoods, close to shopping and resturants. We would be looking for something similar. We rent a 3 bedroom townhome with small yard for $2000. Mostly we will want to be in a walkable community (close to shops and little trails), a safe neighborhood with many families. DH is used to a 45 min. commute, so we wouldn't mind the city outskirts.
We have visited in the past, only the touristy areas, but loved being around the river. We might stop in for a weekend just to do a quick look, so what would be your suggestion for searching under those conditions.
TIA!
Re: possibly moving to Boston
I think Newton sounds like what you are describing. Is your H planning to drive or take public transit to work? Are you thinking of coming up to house/apartment hunt or just check out towns?
My H would do either. He currently drives because the metro here is not very fast on the outskirts. We would probably just do some town checks if we visit. Thanks!
I second Baker. Newton sounds like a great fit.
