The biggest mall in our area had a massive, massive fire today.

And I work in retail....when my temp job ends, retail will be screwed.
I feel bad for everyone who won't be able to work anytime soon...who knows when they'll get in there and make sure there's no bomb, no structural damage and see what stores can even open? There's more than 230 stores there.
One person can ruin everything.....

I need to vent in a sympathetic place.....
Some stupid girl on FB (that I went to HS with) just posted a aerial view of this particular mall. The photo has been edited to have a picture of an eagle color in red white and blue, with today's date on the bottom left corner. Then the bottom right corner said never forget.
It's no 9/11. Are you f*cking joking? I'm sorry, I'm really upset about the mall. I used to work there.
There's a huge economical impact that will affect Roseville residents and those of us that work in retail in the area....I feel horrible for all those people who work there that thought it was just a drill...and left their personal belongings in their stores. For everyone who has lost or will lose their job. For everyone who doesn't know when they'll get paid again.
It sucks.
But no one died. No one was injured except I heard one report of a minor back injury to a firefighter.
But seriously? Are you kidding? I would live to b!tch her out on FB, but I don't do that....So I'm venting here. GRRRRR.

I get what you're saying about the posting on FB. But, yeah, it still sucks what happened...especially right at the time when retailers count on their sales the most!!! Very amazing that no one was hurt.
Has this affected your job, Kayla? Were you working a the mall? I really hope you're doing ok!!!
I work across the street from the mall, literally across the street. There is also a Bath & Body Works in the mall, so I'm a little worried. If the mall is closed for awhile I don't know if they'd try and move some of those employees to our store or anything.
But I only get about 8 hours/week there....so I was going to look for another job this upcoming week, and I was going to apply for retail positions, both in the mall and out of the mall...but it looks like that won't be happening now.
You're right, it's so amazing no one was hurt, that's the best case scenario for this whole thing.
I saw some photos on the news today from inside the mall and it's absolutely amazing. I just took H to work and we drove by it, it looks normal except for the metal or whatever that is that held up the skylights is all mangled.
