Which area in STL are you looking at holding your sister's shower?? I'd be more than willing to offer suggestions for venues or help you look. I think I must have researched every "smaller" venue available in the city when we were planning our wedding.
Re: **kelliejo**
I would LOVE help! It can probably be anywhere around town and obviously the cheaper the better. I live in Creve Coeur, so that area would be convenient for me.
South county or further west would be okay too.
So far I've only found a few restaurants who charge a ton (which I can't afford) and a hotel by me doesn't rent meeting rooms unless you're getting hotel rooms too (which we aren't). I was going to ask more hotels though.
If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate input! Thanks!
I think the cheapest option would be for you to find a room at a community center, VFW hall, or even a local church (if you have one you could use). Also, I have friends who have thrown several bridal/baby showers in the club room of their apartment/condo complex- so if you know of anyone who has something like that, you could ask if they would let you use it. Then you could do all of the food yourself (or get inexpensive deli options from Sam's Club or Costco) and it would be relatively inexpensive. Here are a couple options I found through googling venues near Creve Coeur:
Webster Groves Rec Complex/Meeting Rooms
St. Ann Community Center
Maryland Heights Centre
Creve Coeur Lakehouse Restaurant
I didn't think the prices for the smaller rooms in those community centers was too bad- a couple of them have security deposits but you get the money back if you keep the room in good condition. And I threw the restaurant in there cause I thought it was pretty but that one might be going over budget for you!
I think since your sister has been so adamant about NOT having it at home, then you should spend the majority of your budget on the venue and go really simple with the rest of it. Think soup and salad luncheon or pastas- you can do any of those really cheaply. For decorations I would just do something like balloon centerpieces or a bunch of bud vases with single blooms- again, really cheap. And of course you can do your own invites since you're really talented with that
I didn't look specifically at VFW/K of C halls, but you might want to look for one in your area. Again, I think your cheapest bet would be a room in a church or condo clubhouse because it would be free/next to nothing. If you want any more help don't hesitate to ask- I love party planning!!
