The doctor gave me pills to take for migraines as I have been getting lots of headaches lately. I was wondering if anyone else took prescription migraine meds (I don't have the name here with me). I was wondering how it made you feel the first couple of hours taking it. After I take it my neck hurts to the point I don't think I can hold it up, sinus cavities feel like they are going to explode, feel out of it, etc. Just wondering if this is normal or if I should cut the pill in half and only take 25mg instead of 50mg.
Do you ladies have any remendies to help migraines, besides just taking these pills?

Re: Who takes migraine meds?
I take migraine medicine. I have been on Treximet before (very expensive) and didnt like the side effects. It made my neck feel tired and achy and my mouth feel numb. My doctor just prescribed a new med this week- its called Midrin. However, I went to 3 pharmacies and was told this med had been on back order for months, they all werent sure when they would ever get it in again. The manufacturer stopped making it right now. I did find one pharmacy that had a generic (Isometh/apap/dichlor). Walgreens had that.
Nothing really helps me, I had taken one pill yesterday and another today and still have a faint headache. Sleeping it off in a dark, quiet room, making sure you eat and drink plenty of water.
Call your doctor or pharmacist and tell them how the med is making you feel. I wouldnt cut a migraine pill in half. See what they say. Hope you feel better!
I was on them years back, but any of the ones that I tried made me super nauseous, worse than the actual migraines. So I don't usually take anything other than advil or excedrin and lay down and try to sleep them off.
I have gotten pretty good at working through them. I had one this past week. Just kept all the lights off in my office.

I have a prescription for Imitrex also. It has been the only one that I have taken that has helped me and not made me sick. It does knock me out also but most of the time when I wake up I do not have the migraine anymore I am just physically tired and drained.
Finally after all my migraines I have figured out my triggers but I do know I am light sensitive and if the light catches my eye the right way I have one. But now I start knowing what to look for and most of the time I catch them in time that excedrin knocks it out.
I actually had one Saturday after the football game. It was caused by the light. I caught it and took a excedrin in time and laid down in a dark room. The next morning I felt physically drained but my head did not feel like it was going to pound out of my skull.
