Does your work place ask you to dress in themes?

We had to wear pink yesterday in support of breast cancer awareness, today is Rangers (which made me spend $10 on a t shirt!). We do get these memos asking us what to wear. I try to participate, but I hope it does get to be wear a Cowboys tshirt, then basketball season would come around, .... Soon I would need to ask for a clothing allowance!

Re: Does your work place ask you to dress in themes?

  • I work as a teacher and some days we do.  I think if you don't have it, then don't do it.  Is it mandatory?  If it's mandatory it's a work expense and therefore a tax deduction.

Ditto. If it's not mandatory then maybe you can just wear red, white and blue (is that the rangers' colors?-- I have no idea). If it's Cowboys day then wear blue and white/grey. That way you can still participate but you don't have to shell out the $$ for new clothes (unless you want to).

  • It's not mandatory, but I have never worked anywhere before that we would get memos, I guess because we are a small agency here!?! I think I will stick with the colors for the rest of the sports season!!
  • i am also a teacher, and we have spirit fridays, where everyone is encouraged to wear a school shirt.  or on college day (trying to promote higher education), everyone's supposed to wear a shirt from their alma mater.  but it's not mandatory.

next week is drug awareness week, so we are encouraged to wear the following.  i am psyched about wednesday!

    mon: crazy sock day

    tues: hat or cap day

wed: sweats (can't wait to wear yoga pants; it's like wearing pj's!!)

thurs: bandana (might not do this one; i don't have a bandana)

fri: school shirt and crazy hair day

eta: i don't ever buy clothes just for a specific day, though.  i've even stopped buying the yearly school shirt because i've worked here so long, i can go three weeks wearing a different one every day and not having to do laundry.

  • The day we debut Christmas Book we all wear denim and that year's Christmas Book t-shirt.  It's supposed to be a fun day with a fashion show and other fun stuff going on.  Our CEO (or one of them, anyway) did say that we could wear denim this past Monday as long as we were wearing a Rangers shirt.  Oh and I think those of us who were on the committee raising money for Haiti relief all wore red to the benefit silent auction that day/evening.  That's about it.
