Do you have one? How often do they come and what all do they do? Is the price reasonable? I don't mind daily upkeep, it's the deep cleaning of my house that I hate. I've thought about looking for one for a while, but just wanting to know what to expect.
Re: Cleaning lady
I have a couple that came in and cleaned. Same as pp, they cleaned the bathroom (everything), kitchen counters, floors, vacuumed, dusted, etc. I paid around $65 every two weeks. If I needed special things like the refrigerator cleaned, I would just pay them a little extra.
I found them on Angies list.
I like having them come not only to clean, but it pushed me to straighten and organize things the day before they came. Now that we don't use them anymore, I have no push to get the house back in order.
It's worth it!
I am a housekeeper and I do not charge by the hour but by the bid. It depends on what the home owner wants done. This makes it easier on everyone b/c the price is set and they never have to worry about what to pay me, and can leave a check/cash and go out while I clean. Although the oven/fridge/microwave all cost extra. It usually amounts up to $20-25 and hour. I would recommend you use a small service and not a commercial one like Merry Maids/Service Pro/Molly Maids etc...because it has been a constant complaint of home owners that they didn't get what they expected. If a worker was sick, they sent out a stanger to clean. And if something goes missing or gets broken they like to blame their co-workers...
A team or single cleaning lady with experience, credentials and insurance is the way to go! Ask your friends if they have someone that cleans for them. That way you have an idea of what to expect and if you feel comfortable w/that person.
I love my job, I have been doing it for 5 years and my clients are like my family. I hope that you find a good housekeeper.Good luck!
We have cleaning ladies that come every two weeks. It's honestly the best money we've ever spent. I often joke that it helps DH & I have a "happy home" because we don't have to argue over who does all those deep cleaning chores!
It's 2 women who come every other week. They dust & vacuum the entire house. They completely scrub and mop all bathrooms & the kitchen. They change & wash our bed sheets. They'll occasionally do additional things if we ask them to but we generally pay extra for additional services. The basic 2 week cleaning costs us $80 (which is actually pretty inexpensive based on where we live)
I have a service come bi-weekly. I would love to find someone for $65! They usually run me $90 plus tip, and I don't have a huge home. In fact, I'd say it's rather small, but they charge for size.
Anyway - I was raised to think that having a cleaning person made you lazy, but it's the best thing I've ever done. I'd almost sooner starve than give up my cleaning people.
