B and I are thinking of going to Europe in May, and we want to get a head start on getting cheap airfare. We're thinking of going for about 10 days and doing the following:
1) Paris (3-4 days)
2) Munich/Romantic Road/Rothenburg, Germany (2 days)
3) Amsterdam (2 days)
4) Brussels (2 days)
I've been everywhere but #2, but B hasn't been to any of these places. Do you think we're trying to cram in too much? Also, is there anywhere not on the list in France, Germany, the Netherlands (or reasonably close) that you would recommend going? TIA ladies.

Re: Vacation Help Please
You itinerary looks totally doable to me. Some people don't like these types of trips and think you should spend more time in one country, but I think these are perfect if you just want to hit the highlights and get a taste for each place. The travel time between Paris and Brussels is only 1 and a half hours or so by train and from Brussels to Amsterdam it is just under 2. That is if you take the Eurostar train. I tend to prefer trains for shorter distances like that because they are so easy and you don't have to deal with airport security or traffic.
I really like Munich and Rothenburg, but if you are planning on traveling on the Romantic Road you may need to rent a car to really enjoy it. I'm not sure if that's what you were planning to do but I think if you travel by train you could miss some of the cute German towns along the way. I haven't really explored this area, but I am assuming it is similar to the rest of Germany as far as transportation. However, if you just have specific towns you want to see then train is never a bad way to go in Germany. And the public transport within Munich is wonderful so you won't need a car there. If you decided to go with Eurostar, you may also want to check out Cologne. It is a great city even if you just do a short layover there by train. The train station is literally right next to the Dom/Cathedral so you could spend a few hours there exploring the city and then hop back on the train. But if you wanted to stay there a bit, it is a great city and I have heard of several people doing side trips from that area. That's just a suggestion though. Although I think Rothenburg and Munich are great choices.
May is a good time to come too because it isn't as busy but you still get nice weather. My cousin is visiting next May too and that is the timeframe I normally recommend to friends and family to visit.
Do you know where you are flying into? Frankfurt is an hour from my house, just saying.
Sorry for the babbling and if the post doesn't make much sense....I'm still working on my morning coffee. Let me know if you have any questions.
For starters, I'm jealous.
I think your itinerary looks fine, especially if you've already been to many of the places. We backpacked Europe in '06 and averaged 2-3 days for each city.
As pp did, I would also recommend Cologne, Germany. The city is beautiful. Climbing the stairs to the top of the Dom/Cathederal is fun. You can get the feel of the city without getting to far away from the train station.
In France, I would recommend Epernay/Reims region. They're known for their champagne caves and it was beautiful and very romantic and relaxing. We did this after 3 days of hustle & bustle in Paris and it was a nice treat. We took the Eurorail straight from that area to Amsterdam and it was relatively fast. Nice in the South of France was pretty and a nice little beach town, if you're into that.
Enjoy your planning!
