About 6 months ago, Dave and I decided to make a joint bucket list. We had decided to wait a few years to have kids after the wedding and figured just for fun we'd put down some things we watched to accomplish before then. But it's not even so much about kids, it's just stuff we really want to make a point of doing together in our lifetime!
For everyone, even for those of you who are plunging right in and trying for kids right now, what's on your bucket list?! And do you have real plans to accomplish any of them already?
Re: Bucket Lists
Our bucket list consists of places to travel before we die, no other real goals. (Now that I write that it sounds a little pathetic, but whatever. :-P)
We sat in a pub in Dublin on the HM and wrote out on a napkin all of the places we want to see before we die, and broke it out into places we feel comfortable traveling with kids, and places to see before. We're doing two big vacations this year to Tahiti and Tanzania/Victoria Falls, so I'd say we're on the way to trying to accomplish everything.
Some of our big ones: Tanzania (safari) and Victoria Falls, Maldives, Patagonia (w/ a hopeful side trip to Antarctica), Thailand, Scandanavia.
ETA: Oooh, I thought of a non-travel related one. We would like to eventually own a self-sustaining home/farm. With gardens and windmills and chickens and other fun stuff. I would love to be off the grid.
ahhh, i just wrote mine all out and TN wouldn't let me post it!!! i hate TN.
lia, this is a fun idea, i am going to go home and actually write out a bucket list with gerren tonight!
sunshine, not to worry, ours is mostly traveling too.
alaska
hawaii again
europe
australia/new zealand
take surfing lessons
get tattoos
gerren only: have lamas, go skydiving
have an extremely lavish and fancy and way too expensive fun weekend. go to the opera, wear a ball gown, be treated to the nicest dinner ever, take a limo, etc.
Blog
Ha ha ha! I love that Gerren has a goal to own llamas! That's so random and funny! :-D
I also just thought of this website that I found a long time ago that has something fairly similar. http://www.43things.com/ You can set 43 goals for yourself and see what others' goals are and how they've accomplished them. It's kinda neat. And addicting.
At sea, heading to Lisbon, Portugal
I don't have a bucket list. My friend had a 30-before-30 list, but I'm not sure how far she's gotten.
I was just telling my co-worker the other day, how I really want to spend a Halloween in Salem though.
Lia! What a great topic here! I love it. Todd and I have talked about our bucket list but haven't written it down! Now I think we will!!!
Sunshine...I'm going directly to that site and doing it! Then I want to do it with Todd!
How fun!
Shauni...I have a llama phobia! LOL I had an issue with one in a petting zoo when I was a little girl! Haha....it is totally random and I love that he has that as a goal one day! Teehee....
Todd wants to own an apartment complex...we already own 2 sets (4 units) of duplexes...we have some house goals...like a pool, patio, hot tub, etc...and retirement goals-live near the beach with a pool and a hot tub...plus lots of travel goals...our big one and closest to accomplish is our driving trip out west...we want to take 4 weeks and drive all over the west and southwest. End up in Portland at his sister's and then back to Ohio through Glacier National Park. Ohhhh there are so many things we want to do when it comes to travel....I'm excited to write it down now!
Thanks, Ladies! xxoo
Haha, one of my goals is to own sheep, just so my future border collie can herd them. Oh, and for lamb chops of course.
(Gerren's goal of having llamas made me think of that)
Most of my goals are house-related. We want to build our own and have a professional quality kitchen (we already started considering how we'd have issues hooking up to public utilities), have a library complete with library ladder and fire place and an awesome shower with like a million heads.
We have some travel related ones, too. H has never been to Italy and my trip there was awful (not due to Italy! due to fam). And I NEED to go to Great Britain and Ireland for like a month before I die. I'm absolutely obsessed with their history.
Oh and last but not least, I want to own an ice rink and a wind turbine.
These are all "Before I die" items, no kids in my future!
We've given it thought but have not put anything in writing. I want to travel to Italy, he wants to go to Amsterdam. I would love to go to the 2012 Olypmics in London, that would be so cool!
Oh, we also want to be Oakland Raider season ticket holders, especially after yesterday's game, 59 points baby!
i want to add these to our bucket list too:
build dream house, have professional quality kitchen, have a wrap around deck, and have a library with ladder and fireplace!!!
Blog
OMG! Yes! I have always wanted a huge wrap around porch with an awesome swing. The library with the ladder sounds pretty cool too. I would imagine H would have to start smoking a pipe to fit in in my library. :-)
gerren has an obsession with pipes. he has never smoked tobacco but if i had a library, he would buy a pipe and tobacco and smoke it in my library all the time. and wear a suit.
Blog
What an awesome topic!
DH and I would also like to build a house someday. That house WILL have:
a basement/game area, a wrap around porch (with a swing), a window seat in either the bedroom or craft room (prefereably in a loft of some sort), a great big yard with a swingset and a treeehouse for the kids, a garden for veggies, an island in the kitchen (I have a small one now and can't live without it), H wants a great big pole barn with a lift for working on cars.... Etc etc. We're a long way from that though.
I would like to go back (and take DH) to Japan someday. We also would like to go to australia too.
As far as kids, hopefully before 30, so in 3 years or less would be nice.
I have my own personal bucket list. We don't have a joint one. We should though!
One of our main joint goals is to go to Africa.
