BunMom

I had no idea you're a TIPer! Surprise  It came as a surprise lol.

I have a bun question.  Do yours hop up on furniture?  Miss Busterina has from day one with no encouragement from us (there are days I'd prefer she wouldn't!) but she injured her paw in her cage (not furniture related) and when I asked the e-vet if it was okay for her to still jump up with us she tweaked.  She told me rabbits can break their backs very easily and we should have ramps and that we've just been very lucky the last 2 years.  Well Buster is on and off the love seat, couch, arm chair, guest bed, etc, in all I've ever read I've never heard to not let them do that.  Any thoughts?  I mean there's not a whole lot I can do, there's not guarantee she'd even use a ramp, but of course now I worry she's going to hurt herself.

Re: BunMom

  • EmbarrassedI loves me some drama - so I hang at TIP.

Bunnies have fragile skeletons -not just spine but legs, too.  Kinda strange evolution for a critter that likes to jump a lot, but what do I know.

My boys don't like to get up on furniture. We've tried bringing them up onto the couch a few times, but they don't like it and immediately hop down.  I have heard of bunny owners leaving a step of some sort in front of their couch, so the bun can more easily get up and down.  Pet stores have them with carpet on them (more for little dogs), but you could make your own in a pinch.
