I'm looking to find the best protein powder to aid in my workouts. I'm leaning to Soy protein but only because I really don't do much dairy at all. I've cut out all dairy milk and use soy milk but I do still eat cheese and ice cream on occasion.
Any ideas anyone??? I read an article in Consumer reports about the protein powders that are bad for you...a lot of them have metals in them that our bodies don't need or want!
Help!

Re: Protein powder anyone?
When I did the Abs Diet I used the Designer Whey Protein that they carry at GNC and other health stores. I can't remember why, but the Abs Diet said that soy protein powder isn't as good for women, but the GNC guy told me its what I should get.
I've also used the Jillian Michaels kind because thats all they carry in the middle no where where I live.
Sorry, that probably wasn't too helpful, but I didn't have any issues with either one.

Thanks everyone! Laura-that is one of the best ones listed in the Consumer Reports mag!!! I'll have to try it. I want something chocolate that tastes good. I'm going to be making a shake with frozen bananas, choc protein powder and peanutbutter. Ohhhhh it's soooo yummy.
Oh yeh, and the Jillian Michaels protein is really good too....they both have very low numbers when it comes to the metals etc...and arsenic! Yuck!
Todd is all over me because he wants me to be careful and not over do it.
I love working out and am sooo excited because I'm on a good track.
I've had Jeff's powder with soy milk and PB and it's SO GOOD. Generally he grinds up some ice cubes, then adds a scoop of the powder and some milk (you could easily use soy). The ice cubes add a lot to the texture, but if you are on-the-go or at work and don't have a blender, you can use one of those shaker things and just the soy milk. I don't recommend just using water, because the texture just sucks.
When I'm sick I do half a scoop of the powder - there is a TON of protein so I don't need the full scoop - and PB, sometimes ice cream to give me something with substance to eat. I've had it with just milk though (which saves a bunch of calories) and it's still very tasty. It is sort of expensive, though, so I recommend getting it when GNC is having a BOGO sale or getting their club card so you can get 15% off during the first week of every month. You will likely use less than he does, so it will last you longer.
