The ladybugs are coming

Last year, I came home to a house infested with hundreds of lady bugs. I just turned around and there are at least 7 ladybugs within my immediate sight. I'm googling as I type, but does anyone know of a DIY ladybug repellent?

Re: The ladybugs are coming

  • My experience is that they go away on their own pretty quickly.  I'm no help.

  • Are they ladybugs or those Japanese beetles?

  • those both look the exact same to me, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to tell the difference.  They're red. They have black spots. And if this year is anything like last year, they're going to be everywhere.

I vacuumed them up last year to avoid them spraying their pheromones all over the place and attracting more. My Dyson STILL stinks like burning ladybug everytime I use it.

And the google machine isn't offering me much hope in repellents. :(
They want me to do stuff like caulk openings and fix ill fitting windows and doors. I'm lazy. And fat. And I couldn't balance on a ladder to save my life right now.

    Stupid cute bugs.

  • Just welcome them into your home.  What's the worst that could happen?

  • Aren't ladybugs good luck?  You should probably start playing the lottery

agreed.  What did a ladybug ever do to you?

poor thing, she probably can't just fly, fly, fly away home

  • If it were just one, fine...  But there are HUNDREDS coming. I know it.
It's one of the 10 plagues.
  • Dude, we have the same problem.  I still find random ladybug carcasses here and there.  I haven't found new ones yet this year, but man they are annoying.
