Sorry, long post. I have been a wreck up until today and talking about this nonstop so I apologize for those who have already heard about this.
I haven't posted about this here because I wanted to wait until we knew what was going on.
On Friday, I had an ultrasound that determined the girls might be in trouble. The way it was worded to me was that I was Stage I for TTTS (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome). It's basically when one baby is getting more blood and has more amniotic fluid in their sac than the other baby. It only happens in monochorionic twins, which is what I have. This can become a very serious situation very fast and sometimes fetal surgery is needed to correct the problem, or one or both twins may be lost. One of the girls had more fluid than her sister, and there was about a 2 week difference in measurement between them.
Anyway, they set up an appt for first thing this morning at Abbott Northwestern with a high risk specialist who has specialty knowledge about TTTS. We got to spend the whole weekend freaking out over what might be down the road.
The good news is that I don't have TTTS at this time. The doctor I saw today tells me that I am trending that way, but I'm not there. We are still ok for now. (WHEW!!!!) However, we are going to keep a close eye on what's going on in there. I will have to go back for more ultrasounds over the next few weeks to watch for changes. We aren't out of the woods, but for now we are ok.
The doctor's own words were that he was "happy" for today. I'll take it.
So now we are going to take it day-by-day, week-by-week and see what happens. We may develop TTTS or we may not. Depending on how the pregnancy goes, we may just have to deliver early. We might very well end up with 2010 babies. Both girls still have good signs for now and are very active! I'm definitely feeling them more and more now.
He's even letting me continue to work for now as long as I don't do anything stupid. I'm on restricted duty, and I'm ok with that. I am taking the bus downtown more now because it's so convenient and I only have to drive on class days.
Soooooooo..........
I have a shower in Duluth in about 2 weeks. It's being thrown by my MIL and 2 SILs. Assuming nothing changes and I am still able to go, the shower is still on for now. I want to find something nice for hostess gifts. One SIL is a PT masseuse, so I don't want to buy them massages. Any suggestions?
Re: Baby post - we had an interesting week (and a question)
first of all wow. glad everything is ok for now, and hopefully it stays that way for you...
as for ideas, gift certificate to a local resaurant up in duluth? or a gift basket full of their favorite things??
I'm so glad the girls are ok and sorry you and your DH had to go thru so much stress. Hoping they continue to do well.
I suck at gifts. I usually get gift cards or an edible bouquet.
my read shelf:
Oh my god, that is so scary! I'm so sorry to hear about your scare, and I hope that all goes smoothly with the duration of your pregnancy. Fetal surgery sounds... terrifying
Best wishes to you and your girls!!
So glad that everything is looking good! Keep us posted and we will keep you and the girls in our thoughts.
As for a gift I would say a gc to their favorite place, maybe a facial or a mani/pedi.
That is so scary!! I'm so glad the girls are doing well! I loved being able to feel the baby move...I can't imagine what that must be like with 2 in there!
As for a hostess gift, maybe a gift certificate for a pedicure or something of that sort.

glad to hear that your girls are ok! How scary of a weekend, though.
As far as gifts, maybe a gift certificate to a nice restaurant that they don't often go to? A little basket of goodies to pamper themselves with (small lotions and other stuff from Bath & Body)?

I saw your post on the other boards and I am so happy to hear that you and the girls are okay right now! I am crossing my fingers and toes for you! I also know someone who had TTTS with their two boys who are now 2. Let me know if you would like to chat with her- I am sure she'd be up to it as well. Keep us posted.
Happy to hear that everything's still going ok right now for your girls; definitely thinking about you. I hope it still works out for you to go to the shower. Do you like to bake or make anything (crafts, knit, etc)? I think a homemade basket of treats or even a homemade card are some of my favorite hostess gifts I've gotten.
Wishing you the best!
Thanks everyone for the warm fuzzies. I do appreciate it so much.
Also thanks for the suggestions!

BIG HUG to you, and good, warm vibes and prayers to your little sweethearts. I hope they grow big and strong!!!!!
As for shower gifts, I like doing nice hair/skin/makeup products that I specifically pick out for the individual.... but being that I'm a hairstylist, I guess it's a natural inclination! People really like it because it makes them feel a bit luxurious whenever they use it, sometimes on an every day basis. Esp great for people who don't buy those things for themselves.
