What are you keeping from the wedding?
Are you keeping response cards? Wedding cards? Bouquet? Dress? How are you storing this stuff?
I need to get my dress cleaned...I can take it to a regular dry cleaner right? No beading or detail, just simple chiffon.
I'm trying to sort and purge.
Re: What are you keeping from the wedding?
I'm keeping the dress (still needs to be dry cleaned too), an invitation, program, menu card, overlay from sweetheart table.
I plan on keeping the dress in its bag (fabric not plastic) in my parents closet. I want to put the paper items in a scrapbook or in a keepsake box.
Toasting Flutes& Bottle of Champagne from Lake Placid that we toasted wtih at the wedding &Cake cutting set is displayed in our china cabinet with our program
My bouqet is dried is also displayed in our china cabinet
I have a box with all the response cards, wedding cards, bachelorette stuff, shirts and other misc crap that I will save to show our children
My dress is haning in the closet, Im going to do a trash the dress session sometime after christmas.....it still needs to be cleaned and prob preserved maybe Idk
Alot of stuff I sold or am trying to sell
Photo card box sold
We Do Letters sold

Table number holders sold
We do have some of the cd favors, matches and cocktail napkins left that I will keep for our children
Keeping little things like paper goods, cake topper, toasting flutes, ribbon from my boquet, my dress... i tossed the flowers...didn't have too much to start with.
No idea about cleaning my dress but I'd like to know!
BTW thank you because this totally reminds me to get the tablecloths back from my mom. I want to selllll them or making something with them at least!
god damn it! the nest deleted my post again! it hates me. and i hate it.
we kept my dress, the guestbook tree, and two lanterns. i wanted to keep the glass vases that we used for centerpieces (all cool old different glass bottles) but they were taken by the guests.
Blog
My guests took all of my centerpieces and other decorative items, so I was glad about that.
Our cake topper is in our china cabinet.
My cake cutting set was borrowed, so I'll return that.
I think I'll go through some cards and save a few. I always do that. I need a photo box for storage so I'll put that on my list to buy.
My dress sorta, it at MIL house and she is dry cleaning and sotring it for me.
1 invitation
my cake topper. It was a Willow Tree Angel cake topper which I collect so it is actually on display with all my other angels.
My veil
Wedding cards as of right now
I think that is it. I haven't really gone through all my stuff.
I made a for sale to get rid of most of the stuff, but I am keeping a copy of all the paper stuff... STDs, invites, programs, TYs... I did keep one of my ribbon poms and 12 of my etched votives, and our cake cutters. My bouquet is dried and set aside, but I probably will toss it eventually.
at the moment I still have my dress hanging, but I am debabting on what to do with it right now...
Great timing, Steph! I just posted a FS on my local board last night
Keeping: response cards, wish box cards, greeting cards, 1 program, 1 menu, 1 napkin, escort card for DH and I, head table card (all to be scrap-booked), unity sand that DH and I poured into (on our mantle) and that's about it.
Selling: dress, fascinator, cardboxes (I had 3!), vases, baskets, frames, marbles, unity sand containers (3 extras), sand, cake topper, parasol, rb pillow, etc. I'm not sentimental enough to want to pass that stuff down. I'm all for some other bride getting a great deal or something they've been looking for. That's how I got a lot of my stuff, so I'm happy to pay it forward.
I was going to keep everything: dress, veil, response cards, dried bouquet, guest book but we don't have any room, and my veil was sort of ruined in the bridal suite hot tub
so i've decided to keep any wedding cards that were touching, any response cards with personal notes on them, the dress, one of everything like brew311 and anything else I can fit in storage.
I haven't gotten it preserved yet, but I am keeping my dress (and veil and shoes).
We kept one copy of all the paper stuff, as well as our guest book, table numbers, and the cards we received. I have this idea of making a scrapbook that I'm sure will never happen. I recycled all the leftover invites and programs, and the response cards, and threw away the frames for the table numbers. All the other decorations were rentals from the florist so I didn't have to worry about that stuff.
We also kept our cake topper and toasting flutes, and I still have the birdcage we used for the cards but I would give it away or sell it in a heartbeat if someone was interested (but I'm too lazy to actually try to do that).
I've sold my candles, table runners, bride tank, paper lanterns and just hoping I can sell my candle holders & dress. I think my dress might be a little difficult since I had the bust taken in but we shall see.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
I love my puppy ... and my husband, I swear!
From my wedding I kept:
My bouquet, they were silk flowers, and Husband's grandma made them
We had 8 centerpieces, and only 1 guest took 1, was hoping more would take them, but I kept 1, not sure what I'm going to do with the rest.
The unity candle, and 2 candles we lit the unity candle with, and also the unity candle table, which we got a small corner table at hobby lobby on sale, and they way his gma did the flowers on it was beautiful, so it's now the wedding table, with the framed invitation his gma made, unity candle and center piece on it. And we kept the blue garter and threw the other one, so it's there too.
toasting glasses
cake serving/knife set and cake topper
my veil, dress, shoes, and head piece, need to get my dress cleaned and preserved, it's still hanging in the bag in the back of closet, and looked at it the other day, it's not wrinkled at all, or very dirty on the bottom
also kept his boutineer
didn't want the ring bearer pillow or flower girls basket, and his cousin is getting married in may, and his FI decided to take and use those for their wedding.
That's all I can think of right now!
I'm keeping a lot. I didn't keep the flowers at all. I'm keeping:
Card Box (and I'm using it to store all cards from guests, table numbers, response cards)
Dress, Veil, Shoes, jewelry
Leftover candles (I'll use the candles, but may recycle the containers once they are gone)
I didn't really have much else. the vases were the florists'.
I may sell or donate the table number holders, the petticoat I didn't use and the ring bearer nest I didn't use.
