How do I get a bird to stop pecking at my window?!

There's a cardinal (I think) that keeps pecking at our patio door window. It has been doing this for about a week. The curtain we have in front of the door is red. Thinking it liked the color I opened the curtain and it's still pecking! Any advice?

I've heard they do it because they see their reflection and think it's another bird. Could you close the blinds or curtains and see if that helps?

It's pecking at the actual glass? Not on the wood frame around the window? Interesting...

I just did a quick google search, and it sounds like sometimes cardinals do this when they're being territorial. They see their reflection and think it's another bird? Yep - its "attacking" another bird (or its reflection). You might have to decide to just deal with it unless you want to do something to your window to make it non-reflective. You can usually buy film for windows at Home Depot if you want to try that.

I've also heard about getting a fake "scary" bird like an owl or something to put near the window.
