Someone just posted this on the Students board:
"my grades have dropped so low... that they actually think i have learning disablity.... ever since we got engaged, i dread goin to class, all i think about is guest list, the venue and colors.... we just finally started talkin bout the wedding which is in a year. I still havent found a place to get married nor picked colors. im have so much trouble on decided on a color.... class doesnt help. I would love to be done with school, but i keep on pushin away from studyin and wedding planning... i"
I kind of want to say something like, "Well, if you put as much effort into your classes as you did into typing this post, I have a feeling it's not wedding planning that's causing the low grades." I would NEVER post that. But seriously, the quality of the typing on that board makes me cringe, particularly since it's supposed to be for students, not middle-school dropouts.
Re: I'm evil.
i hate that sh*t. unless intentional, do not drop the "g" at the end of the word!
goin' doin' sayin'
STFU already!

Before I even read where you typed that you cringed, I was scrunching up my face and cringing. What is it with the ...'s (ellipses?)? It makes me think of someone just rambling and rambling. And when has the poor letter G become banned from words ending in -ing? Grrrrr.

"that they actually think i have learning disablity" - you're missing a word there, sweetie.
"finally started talkin bout the wedding"
"but i keep on pushin away from studyin" - these two sentences make me read the whole thing in a hick voice.
Now, I use ellipses pretty often, I know it's an issue. But hers are just weirdly placed, not for effect but just as if she's rambling. And I will drop a 'g' on purpose, to be funny, but this is ridiculous. And her lack of apostrophes for contractions is so common that I know it's not a typo. I try not to harp on the occasional error, because I know typos happen, especially if you're typing fast, but when a paragraph is 75% incorrect, I start to think you're an idiot.
She could be in high school (CRINGE). There are a few of those on that board. But even the girls who say they're in college are pretty bad.
I'm evil too
That post bothers me. I have a cousin who has a learning disability and I'm sorry but planning a wedding does not count as a learning disability. If they could not handle planning a wedding and school then why not postpone the wedding? Or drop out of school so that no one has to hear you complain about how low your grades are dropping because of your wedding planning! Sorry, that was harsh.
"cuz this aint a collage paper ya know...u dont need 2 write in complet centenceses or nuffin!...cuz this is lk a msg board and ppl here dont judge u for not writin rite."
Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Yeah, I love when people defend their atrocious spelling/grammar with, "Geez this isn't a college paper, why are you guys acting like this?!"
Because I die a little inside when I think that you're getting a college degree and don't think there's anything wrong with presenting yourself that way to a public audience.
If she's in HS, then how did she make it that far? Seriously, sad.
I'll be the first one to admit I use my less country voice at work and when I go home, especially to my parents, it gets way worse but I also know how to speak and type grammatically.
She is just ridiculous. Please go back to english/language arts.
to be fair, while i HATE just about everything she did wrong in that post, i often do not capitalize when i should nor do i put in the apostrophes when i am doing a post.
for example:
i dont put in apostrophes where i should. except in the case of "you're."

I don't know how you can do that. I'm so trained to capitalize and punctuate that my fingers just do it automatically. I actually have to consciously think about not capitalizing letters and using apostrophes. Crazy!
That girl's post was pretty awful. It's almost like reading an e-mail from my little brother. (He's 16.) I have to think for 5 seconds about what the half-words and abbreviations mean. Do you think eventually our English will evolve into text speak? God, I hope not.
Dude, you ain't kidding. That sig pic is HUUUUUGE. I just opened one of the posts and was reminded of you saying this.
I have a hard time with posts like this. Not too say that I type perfectly EVERY time I post (especially from my phone) but that is rediculous. The dropping of the g just kills me. I am an English major and I HATEHATEHATE text speak. Replacing words with letters like "u" or "r", like in R U there?
Just kill me now if our entire language will be massacred sometime in the future by things like this. Sheesh
