Cleaning battery operated stuffed animals...

My friends' house just had a major leak... right over the baby's crib. Awesome. Luckily she wasn't in there at the time.

Anyway, we're wondering how to clean.. and not just clean, but sanitize... a few battery operated stuffed animals. You know, those kinds that you put batteries in their backs and they say creepy things? They say surface clean/wash only, but will that help the toy be germ free?

I know with regular plush animals you can usually just ignore that, but since these toys have electronic components inside, I'm just curious as to how one would clean them properly.
