So quiet. What's going on girls??

Been pretty silent here for a couple of days. Anything new you'd like to share? Something you're looking forward to this week?

DH and I are going to Yoshi's tonight with MIL and her friend for live jazz and sushi. Yum!

Re: So quiet. What's going on girls??

  • Speaking of Yoshi, my niece is going to be Yoshi for halloween.

I got a really bad haircut over the weekend.  I have helmet hair.  It's bad.

Oh, Pugsly story... poor thing.  I was walking her last night, and it began pouring pretty hard.  It was raining when we went on our walk, so I had an umbrella.  Poor Pugsly started freaking out.  We're talking running in circles... not really knowing what direction to go in... whimpering... it was craziness.  I decided to cut the walk short and take her right inside, where she continued to freak out until I could catch her in a towel and start drying her off.

She's been out in the rain before without an issue.  I wonder if something happened with the "shower" last time she was at the groomer?

  • Not much going on with us.  I've been trying to teach myself to use our sewing machine to that I can make an attempt to slipcover our couch, part of a larger redecorating effort.  It's not going well.  I really need some practice at sewing straight lines.  Or maybe I'll have to knit some slipcovers--how itchy would that be, lol.

Also, all the baby announcements reminded me--my mom has baby fever BAD.  Any time I mention any symptom or behavior of pregnancy, like I stayed home sick from work last week, or I turn down a second glass of wine, she lights up "are you pregnant???"  No, Mom, I just have to drive home later.   She is seriously hoping for us to have a "happy accident" and gets very disappointed when I say no.

She knows it would be a very bad time for us, but for some reason, she is very excited about becoming a grandmother...

Ugh, the dreaded bad haircut!  Tongue Tied Sorry to hear about Pugsly. Hopefully it was just a freak incident and something just spooked her.

Goodness... lol, I would get so self conscious after a while.  You aren't bothered by her comments, are you?

It's funny you mention this story.   I've been going back and forth between having baby fever and thanking God that I don't have to worry about a baby right now.  One thing I was just thinking about would be how I would tell my parents I was pregnant.  To be honest, I don't know how they would take it.  I'm the youngest of four kids, and even though I'm well into adulthood, I sometimes still think they see me as a child.   They didn't really get excited when I told them that DH and I were thinking about getting married.  (It was more of a stunned silence.)

MIL on the other hand would be inconsolable.  :)  The whole town would know within five minutes of her finding out.

DH hasn't gotten to the part in the Husband Manual where he's supposed to try and convince me that it doesn't look as bad as I think it does.  Here's how the coversation went:

    ME: What do you think?

    DH: *shrug* (apathetically) "It's fine."

    *eyeroll*

  • I've been putting together Halloween costumes for DH and I.  We're going with a larger group of friends as the cast of the Jersey Shore.  I'm going to be a Knocked Up Snooki, DH is going to be The Situation.  All the guys have (reluctantly) agreed to let me paint their faces orange with makeup to get the full effect, I'm pretty excited lol!

I can't wait until Wednesday.  I've got a dinner date with my cousin, we're going to a local Japanese restaurant that I loooove!! I've been craving some Pad Thai!!

SIL is on a cruise this week with her boyfriend.  We're all pretty much convinced he's going to propose while they're away, and FIL won't confirm or deny that he's been asked "permission" to propose.  I'm excited for them to get back to find out!!

Not so much self conscious, but it's making me second guess myself a little bit.  "Wait, what if I am?"  Now it's a small nagging voice in the back of my head "What if Mom is right...?"

My Mom, of course, would be over the moon, but I don't think Dad's ready to be a grandfather.  He tends to act out in weird, unrelated ways when he gets stressed, like going on a hunting gear spending spree when I was born or pruning the hedges to tiny bits when his brother got a divorce, so that'll be interesting when/if it does happen.

  • This is my last week of working in the office before I start working from home (up until I deliver).  I had a manager tell me today that I shouldn't be here and that she was going to talk to my boss about why I am still in the office (fingers crossed that they send me home!).

In baby news, I see the doctor tomorrow and he will schedule my c-section since baby girl is still breech.  I am a hot mess of hormones and emotions lately.  I cry when I hear a song on the radio or when I start writing in my husband's anniversary card.  I just know I am going to be crying on the opertating table with the anticipation of meeting our baby.  I really need to pull it together.

I am beyond excited that Halloween in on Sunday... anyone with me?

  • Not a whole lot new here.  Spent the weekend prepping, then having a GTG which involved LOTS of game playing and LOTS of drinking.  Sunday was more or less a fairly lazy day; did a few things but not much.

Dreaded coming into work (as usual) and am sneaking in doing homework before class tonight.  I was so busy w/ classes & finishing painting, cleaning, prepping, etc. that I didn't have time to open my book for tonight's class.  I think I should be able to get it all read in time, but I'm so over school this semester.  Both of my classes suck and require way too much work, so I'm getting less into wanting to do the massive amounts of required reading and paper writing.  I'm officially done w/ this semester on December 9th and am really looking forward to a few weeks break before I hit it again.

I'm ready for the weekend to get here and its only Monday!  hehe

So exciting you'll have her birthday soon! And, oh my goodness, the hormones and emotions get NO better after delivery! I cried and cried randomly, and still do (but much less frequently). The baby blues is totally a real thing. The first time I ate regular food after the surgery and didn't feel him kicking me I totally lost it - I never thought I'd miss him abusing me from the inside but I totally did (and I'm tearing up writing that...). Just know that you aren't crazy, it is totally normal :).

I'm just in complete baby mode, feeling like a dairy cow :). My parents come into town on Wednesday and I can't wait for my mom to get here! Today is my first day all alone with Liam since Juan had to go back to work...so far so good. I just need to get him to sleep somewhere other than in my arms/on my chest because it makes it hard to do anything!

My parents were exactly like that. When I showed my mom the ring she was like oh that's nice and I was like it's the ring mom and she was like oh....nothing. My dad didn't make any comments at all. They sure know how to make you feel good those parents.

As for what's new we've been very busy getting ready for Halloween. I am going Halloween Bowling with work tomorrow and then the union is having a Halloween party on Friday and then our own Halloween party on Saturday. My gaga costume is going to get it's work out.

I've also moved up a level in dance...scary. It's all the best students in this level, the ones with dance experience and the ones who've been dancing at this studio for 2 years...I haven't even been there a year yet so i'm totally nervous. It starts tomorrow and i'm a bit of a wreck.

  • We had a pretty lazy weekend.  DH worked a TON of hours last week, so we spent the weekend lazing around watching movies, running errands, it was nice.  I'm jealous of you guys getting ready for Halloween festivities.  My friends kind of lost interest in dressing up and acting goofy, so I doubt we'll be doing anything for Halloween.  We don't even have any kids that come by trick-or-treating : (   But... I am really excited about this Friday night.  A couple weeks ago on Ghost Hunters they featured this place called Milton School.  It's about 20 miles from where we live and I surprised DH and bought us tickets to go on a tour of the place this Friday!  I'm so excited- I think it will be awesome!  I'll probably get the $#*! scared outta me, but it'll be fun : )
  • I had a crazy busy weekend!

Friday, we went over to DH's cousin (and her boyfriend)'s house.  They just bought it and are in the process of fixing it up.  It's cute, they just picked colors that I think are weird.

Saturday, I went to see my mom and order the BM dress I'll be wearing for my sister's wedding.  We did lunch and hung out a bit.  Then, I had to go to a bridal shower for a friend.  It wasn't so much a bridal shower as a play date for her friend's kids!  There were 9 guests and at one point, there were 6 kids who were all 4 or younger!  The host doesn't have kids of her own and it's not a kid-friendly house and it was ridiculous chaos!  I have to think that 1 at a time (not 6 at a time) is tolerable, but these kids were absolutely insane!  At one point, a kid pooped so hard, it went through her jeans!  Later, that same kid puked on the floor!  Another kid flung pureed ham on the red suede couch!  They broke her Halloween decorations, and one of them cried the whole time!  So, it sucked.  Oh, and also, this was the "friends only" shower (no family) and nobody ever did introductions.  Later the bride clued me in that every other person there worked with her!  Everybody knew everybody except me!

Sunday was an anniversary continuation for DH and I! :)  He bought us tickets to see Bill Cosby and then we had dinner at a fondue restaurant.  It was super expensive but it was really good and really fun.

Today, DH was off work and he went to a visitation for the father of one of our friends.  He was from a small area, and he had a GIANT family, so it's taking a long time.  DH just texted me and he's only halfway through the line.  At that point, it should have already been over!  They're going out to dinner afterwards and then it's about a 2 hour drive home for him!

I'm relaxing after the busy weekend, but I miss DH :(

  • Just....tired. I have a Paraguard copper IUD, and 99% of the time I love it. I DON'T love the heavy periods. I'm kind of a health nut, and as long as I take care of myself, I can deal with the periods, but this last month with the move and weeks of not having cooking facilities, I've been eating like crepe. My period hit, and I feel like the living dead. Be back in my human form soon.

    Happy Halloween!

  • Pretty crazy weekend here too - DH pulled an anniversary surprise by taking me to a fancy-pants hotel for the weekend.  He had booked a suite and ordered tuxedo strawberries and champagne to be waiting for us when we arrived.  We went out for an AMAZING sushi dinner, ordered crazy expensive sandwiches from room service for late night snacks (yep, we are dorks) and he also had the most fantastic breakfast brought up to the room.   We also had a ton of fun people watching and window shopping in the downtown area.    It was a blast :)

So now its back to reality - catching up on all the homework I didn't do this weekend: 3 papers to write and a bio exam tomorrow!

  • image*MrsMuffin*:

So exciting that you get to meet your daughter soon!!! Can I ask a dumb question...could you tell from how she kicked that she was breech, or did the doctor tell you??

I couldn't really feel that she was breech until week 30 or 32.  Then I knew by the fact that her head sticks out by my ribs and the kicks are low.  But before that I would feel what I thought were kicks all over.  My doctor has always done ultrasounds at every appointment so he has been able to tell me where she is positioned.

He will sleep in his bouncy chair (we got one that is battery powered so it bounces itself), so things have gotten a little easier! He isn't too sure about his swing yet, but we just set that up on Sunday so I'm hoping he'll end up loving it (if only because it is huge and taking up a ton of space in our livingroom!).
