In need of some good drugs

Wow, I have never been in this much pain in my life.

My upper back and neck area have a constant ache and if I try to move at all, I'm getting sharp pains.  I can't find any position that does not hurt.  I tried to sleep but that pathetic attempt lasted about 2 hours.  Now I'm up and completely bored.

I just needed to whine.  Have any of you had any success with neck pain being helped by a chiropractor or accupuncture or anything?  Any advice?  (I realize no one will be up for several hours)  I can't wait for my doctor appointment at 9:15am

Re: In need of some good drugs

  • Oh man, that's sucky. Do you know what caused it?
  • I've always carried a lot of tension in my neck from my work and had a few incidents where my neck locked or cracked, but I really have no idea what has caused this.  I'm so frustrated because I'm too young to be having these problems and this much pain.

  • I've never had anything that couldn't be helped with gentle stretching and heat, so I have no idea what you're going though.  Sorry dude.

Hopefully the doc can help.  Do you think your last visit to the chiro aggravated it?

  • I'm not sure if the chiro aggravated it but I don't think so.  It was pretty painful before that and that was the final straw that made me seek out alternative help.

I feel like i'm falling apart!  This appointment was supposed to be about my knee and hip and now I'm likely not going to mention those at all depending on how the appointment is going.  My doctor isn't typically one of those 'one appointment, one problem people' but my knee and hip feel much better and I would rather get my most serious issue addressed just in case it does take a while and she doesn't want to delve into different issues.

Oh, and I have an enlarged and painful node in my neck now!  It's nowhere near my pain and I'm just thinking it's because of my flu shot the other day, but I'm definitely mentioning this.

I'm leaving in about 10 minutes and I'll let you guys know how it goes.

  • I've had tendonitis since I was 13, so you're never too young to fall apart. Hopefully your doc can do something for you. I would highly recommend a chiropractor, especially since you also have hip and knee problems. It sounds like you're not aligned right, which can lead to a hip or knee not sitting in the joints right. Just know that a chiro can make you feel worse before you feel better. I've had lots of luck with them helping my shoulders and hips, but it's pretty painful for the first few days after.

You may also have a pinched nerve somewhere due to a bruised bone? Did you hit anything lately? Bones are easy to bruise and they swell just like anything else. Hopefully it clears up soon. Good luck!
