Inconsiderate Condo Neighbors!!

My husband has lived in this condo for 6 years.  Me for a little under 3 months.   Starting in Jan or Feb, his neighbor of 3 years started playing music/etc really really loud. I've complained about this once before on here I think!  Saturday they started at about 10am.  We asked once on Saturday if they could turn down the bass, at the very least!  They didn't answer the door the next two times we knocked (and we know they didn't leave b/c they also let their door slam every single time they leave).

I got home kinda late tonight, stood outside our door for a few minutes and didn't hear anything coming from their condo.   Five minutes later-  it sounds like techno blasting from next door. I go knock on the door, I hear them laughing,  and they answered the door and then said "oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't realize it was that loud" and then they turned it up!!  I talked to the president of the condo board today b/c it's that out of control (migraine inducing esp. due to this crazy low pressure weather in the midwest).

My husband is calling the condo management company first thing in the morning- fines here we come!

On the upside- we should only have 15 more days here!! The condo closing date will be determined as soon as our house closing date is set- but definitely by Nov 11!!!

Re: Inconsiderate Condo Neighbors!!

  • Ahh, that's SO annoying! When you choose to live in an apartment, condo, or even a townhouse you have to realize your neighbors CAN hear you. It's called respect.

Are you buying a single family? Best of luck with everything, we just closed today. =) It won't be to much longer that you have to put up with their immaturity.

  • I know- the condo board president said she has complained about the person who lives above her wearing heels all the time.  I have lived in apartments and condos for the past 10 years and have never had to complain like this.  I haven't had to do this since college!!

Yep- we are buying a single family, 1950s ranch, in a nice quiet suburb.  I remember having a conversation about living preferences on our third date- and we both said we'd never leave the city :)  Then I got a job in the suburbs- and it's  a 45 min drive without traffic, up to an hour and a half with... So he put the condo up for sale the week of the wedding! He works out of town a few days every other week, and can walk to the train and take an express train into the city when he is in town.  And I will be a 10-15 drive from work.

I just read about your house! Congrats!!

  • thank god youre getting out of there soon. that makes me want to slap your neighbors

  • My one sister had this same problem a few years ago.  She lived in a duplex and the guy on the other side had a teenaged son who blasted his music.  After talking to him and his father about it many times with nothing being done about it, they ended up calling the cops about it.  I bet that kid wet himself when a cop showed up at his door!
