I have a gigantic problem with this

http://www.mass.gov/rmv/express/chooselife.htm

I saw a car with these plates at Target yesterday and literally stopped in my tracks to stare at them. Am I completely off-base here? Even the sports plates benefit things like the Jimmy Fund and Children's Hospital...

Proceeds will be distributed to qualified not-for-profit agencies within Massachusetts that do not counsel in or refer for abortion.

Re: I have a gigantic problem with this

  • I don't have a problem since people have to choose them and pay extra (unlike SC's In God We Trust). They seem like the ones that benefit animal organizations or whatever charity to me.

But it's such a politically charged issue, and you know you'd NEVER see a "Pro-Choice" plate, even in Massachusetts.

  • Likely true but I can only get mad about that if a pro-choice group or marriage equality or stem cell research group has tried and been denied a plate.

  • We have these too.  Ours is a stork carrying an unwanted baby.  How sweet!

I know MS had one, and I think most states around here do.  I'm surprised that it's infiltrated the great white North.

  • It doens't sit well with me because I don't like having a political/moral stance shoved down my throat anywhere, let alone from someone's license plate. I "chose" the plate that benefits the Mass. Animal Coalition.
  • Do you have to choose a message plate? I'm sure MA has a standard, not pushing any agenda plate, right?

Yes, that's what I have. Because I'm cheap, or I'd probably get the libraries plate, haha.

Once again, I'm a victim of my liberal bubble. I had no idea these existed anywhere, let alone MA.

  • I'm cheat too and you have to pay to push your agenda every year, not just to buy the plate. SC has about 30 options, mostly NASCAR. In God We Trust is standard and free. Sigh

  • Maybe if it looked like this....

  • George Michael FTW, and fuckoff if you're thinking of rolling your eyes at "FTW." TIA.

Can I point out that OF COURSE the baby is white!  Or white enough.

The Mississippi one has badly drawn cartoon children

  • I would totally buy the George Michael plate!

I'm over here in my liberal bubble, surprised that things like that exist.  Although I'd laugh my ass off if I saw one because it says "Choose Life".  I just looked to see what options we have and I'm surprised how many there.  I've only seen 4.

  • We have pro life and pro choice plates.

I don't see the big deal with either of them. Other than everyone always gets their panties in a twist over both of them.

  • Huh. Whaddya know, we have choose life tags too. One for adoption with the same cartoon children as buddha, and another with those kids on a heart.

We also have teen driver education, Smokey the bear, wild turkey, and future farmers of America.
