Windy Wednesday Random

Good Morning!!

How windy would you say it has been by you. We've had a few good gust, but nothing is moving around that much. I kinda thought it was going to be like the Winnie the Pooh story and the blustery day.I do have to say that the sky has looked REALLY cool the past day.

Re: Windy Wednesday Random

  • I love the wind while sleeping.  It's very soothing to me.

I went to bed at 8:30 last night.  It was awesome.

  • There was a constant howl or buzz of wind around my house last night, but it hasn't been nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.  However I must have looked like a drunk driving home last night, my car was all over the highway. The roads leading to my neighborhood were very dark last night.  Thankfully we did not lose power.

  • Holy cow, we're only a month away from Thanksgiving!

  • It's windy, but I don't think it's AS crazy as I thought it was going to be.

    *knock on wood*

The howling wind sound makes it feel very Halloweeny.

    It does!

Weather looks decent this weekend for trick or treaters.

  • speak of Trick and Treater's, I only bought 1 bag this year. We just are not getting the amount we used to. Okay well maybe I bought 3 bags knowing I'll go through 1 bag and I'll have the rest for me.

Haha.  I bought 2 bags knowing we only get about 10 trick or treaters.

I have bought 0 bags.  I forgot.  And I have no idea how many T-o-T's we will get.  And I have no idea when T-o-Ting takes place in my neighborhood.  And I have no idea if we will even be at home at that time.

  • Okay...this is really random (good place to put this I suppose), but I remember last year a woman and her daughter in our neighborhood trick or treating, and when her daughter came to the door, I gave her her candy, but then I heard her mom yell "make sure to get one for your sick brother, too".  Kind of made me not want to give her another piece.  I understand that some kids get sick and can't go out, but the fact that her whitetrashy mom was yelling that from the sidewalk made me a little suspicious.  Is it wrong to only give candy to kids physically at my door?  I mean, why can't mom go out and buy a bag of candy for their sick kid instead of having their sibling collect it for them?  I kind of want to get a second bag of little tootsie rolls for those kinds of situations and for the teenagers who go out and trick or treat.  That probably makes me a meany.

We get the "drive ins" at my house. They come from the next hood over.  One year I was giving out smarties to kids if I didn't hear them say thank you next door, or if they were older, didn't have a costume and were being rude.  Brian accused me of profiling the T-O-Ters.   ha ha.

I just tell kids that I only give one piece per kid that is there so we have enough for everyone. And we close up shop early. By this time the younger, neighborhood kids are done for the night and I feel like we did our good deed.

Five years ago, we had just gotten back from our honeymoon. We were supposed to be back the night before but our flight got delayed so we didn't get back to that morning. After sitting on our steps for about 10 minutes we realized we weren't in the mood at all, so we gave our had full of candy to each kid so we could be done quicker.

    Tee - hee. :-)

On the candy front, we have learned from past experiences and will not be purchasing candy for the trick-or-treaters until Saturday afternoon - a few hours before they come by.

  • I am a little peeved right now. I babysit for a friend every other weekend.  Anyways we usually text quite a bit between those times and talk on the phone. I have emailed her, called her, and texted her a few times and no response. She has done this before like 1-2 days before to say nothing was wrong and if I am still watching the kids. I plan on watching the kids this weekend. So if I show up this weekend and she is in surprise mode- well sorry you should have let me know if I am not supposed to watch them. I babysit them cause I need the money. If I am not supposed to watch them this weekend, I am screwed. I am starting to wonder if I am letting her walk all over me.

Wop - I would be suspicious too.  If you have extra candy, it's not a big deal, but if you get a lot of treaters and some kid later might not get any because another kid took too many, that would be annoying.

GVSU - I have actually given a kid a treat, they said thank you, and then given them another for being polite.  The teenagers wearing halfass costumes also don't get as much candy as the kids.

This year we won't be home when the kids trick or treat, so we'll just be setting a bowl out.

Have you called her and specifically asked her if you need to watch them?

What about getting a weekend job where you know if you'll be working or not?  Maybe something in retail at a store you like for some extra cash.

If kids don't say thank you, I say loud enough for parents to hear "you are welcome".  It actually stopped one kid in her tracks and say "oh, thank you."  Brian just laughs at me.

  • I am going shopping for birthday gifts on my lunch for my neice and nephew who just recently moved back to Michigan.  I don't really know how old they are - if I had to guess, I'd say 7 (boy) and 13 (girl).  What in the world do I get them?  Smile

I think I have an idea for the girl, but the boy I am completely lost.  This will be fun.

Well you did your part in calling her.  That's all you can do right?

I think getting a part time weekend job will make you happier.  You should totally do it.

  • So, I'm pretty sure my phone is totally messed up.  When I press the talk button it tries to connect to some provider app thing.  And speaker phone turns itself on and off.  And yesterday, my phone called my aunt 9 times in a row.  I wasn't even near my phone, I was in a totally different room.  I'm going to the Verizon store after work to see what my options are.  I know I need a new phone, but I don't need a smart phone.  I wonder if there's anything out there that's a good non-smart phone.

I bought my nephew a glow in the dark football one year. It was pretty cool and fitting since he had a football theme party.

I talked to my sister before I went shopping.  I went for a huge K'Nex (?) set for my nephew, and make up for my niece.  I have to mail the gifts since I can't make it to the party.  I should have been smarter about that when picking the stuff out - duh.  The k'nex box is pretty big.

It shouldn't be too bad unless the boxes are really heavy.  Could the K'nex box fit in one of those flat rate boxes?

  • When I went to leave the library today I didn't get into my car fast enough because a big gust of wind came up and slammed the car door into my face, right on my cheek bone. I wanted to cry it still hurts. I wonder if I'll get a bruise. Wont that be lovely.

  • I'm not sure who will see this in time, but there are major traffic issues Downtown and out by the beltline. All traffic light are out for the most part. I know some of you girl are Downtown so I wanted to give you all a heads up. Four way stop rule is in effect...for those of us who know how it works. DH & I found that 98% of people don't today.
