My doctor is so quick, yet efficient! She had a medical resident today so it took a bit longer but still minimal wait.
First of all, I ask about my MRI results from back in May and found out that she was ruling out MS with the MRI.
I'm great at reading doctors writing because of my job and I thought that's what the requisition said but thought maybe I was misreading. Good news, no MS. It did say something about possibly getting an MRI on my cervical area but she doesn't think that's necessary, even with today's symptoms.
She thinks my symptoms are just due to muscle spasms and wants me to continue taking ibuprofen (despite the fact that it hasn't been working). She also thinks I should try physiotherapy. I mentioned the chiropractor and she said I could do one or the other. She's done the chiropractor for her neck before but that physio worked better for her. I asked about a muscle relaxant and she did give me some Flexeril to take at night.
So, I have my massage appointment today at 2:30 I think I'll take a Flexeril before. Since I have already scheduled an appointment with the chiropractor on Friday, I'll go to that and see how that goes and maybe switch to the physio if I feel more comfortable with that. I have to see my doctor again in 4 weeks (follow up and physical and I guess I'll address the hip and knee pain if it's still there)
So, if you have seen a chiropractor and had neck manipulation done, what did you think of it? Did it help? Were you terrified? I would love to hear about any experiences.
Re: Back from the doctor
One of the other massage therapists where mine works does accupuncture, as well as massage. When I couldn't get in with my regular lady, I had him and mentioned that I thought of trying accupuncture. He did a little bit for the last few minutes. It was just to make sure I could tolerate it. I didn't like him for massage but I'm debating going back just for accupuncture.
The next month, I don't have many shifts at work. Normally I would pick up shift in retail pharmacy but instead I'm going to take this time to do the chiro or physio and massage and maybe accupuncture to try and get this under control.
Not a personal experience, but my ex-coworker had terrible neck pain after an accident. It would get so bad she couldn't move her head side to side and you could tell she was visably in pain. Chiro didn't help her, so he suggested acupuncture, and she was like a new person immediately after having it done.
I hope you find something that works for you.
