I need a personal shopper

I hate shopping. I've always been a jeans and hoodie girl.

DH won a corporate trip to California, we leave next week. The dress is "resort casual" with one awards night that is "not black tie, not cocktail, not casual." His boss told the guys, he expected dinner coats, but no ties.

I don't wear shorts. I have a pair of Gap dress capri's. Other than that, I have no idea what to wear, or where to start. I'm always the youngest of the crowd by a good 10 years, so I already stick out like a sore thumb.

Re: I need a personal shopper

  • I would think capris, sundresses, skirts and skorts/long shorts would be fine.  Sandals but not flip flops.  For dinner, I would wear something summer wedding appropriate.

Unfortunately, it may be hard to find that kind of thing at this time of year.  Coldwater Creek has a lot of their summer dress on clearance, but I don't know if they can get them to you in time.

  • I'm way more comfortable in pants. For evening events, are black gap trouser pants and a nice top acceptable?

What about dark trouser jeans, cute tank top and a sweater/cover-up? I usually have to cover up my tanks because all the straps are too narrow and my ginormous bra requires larger straps.

I have this dress from a few years back, is it to outdated? (Assuming it would still fit okay)

  • I would say all of those are fine.

  • I love that dress! I think simple tops and pants dressed up with scarves or long necklaces would be great! The accessories will make you feel put together and confident!

  • I think that the stuff you have sounds great, and that dress would be perfect for the awards night.

  • Thanks ladies. I'm going to go to Macy's at lunch and check out a not so little black dress.

Now I just hope none of the old ladies or execs die of a heart attack when they see my giant foot tattoo.
