Should "Fatties" Get a Room? (Even on TV?)
Re: Should "Fatties" Get a Room? (Even on TV?)
It is extremely offensive, especially when she makes it sound like losing weight is just so easy, all you have to do is eat right and exercise! WTF! Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight knows that it is no where near to that easy!
I saw the article on the H&F board, and some of those girls said that they are drooping their subscription to MC after that. I have never bought it and definitely never will now!

A10 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination: San Francisco!
Completely rude, insensitive and ignorant. I can't believe that was published!
Wow.
I call bullschitt on that one!!! I should have a 6 pack the way I do crunches and schitt, and I still look like I'm 25 months pregnant!!!
Unreal. I saw this on one of my friends' FB postings this morning. BTW it took me a long time but I'm finally comfortable in my size 14. Now I just want to tone up my tummy and arms.
Wowzers. She should have thought (and edited!!!) as much as she did in writing the apology when she wrote the actual article. The article sounded like some rant in a personal diary that was never re-read or thought through before pushing the "post" button.
Ms. Kelly may have just ruined her career...

Wow. Just wow. I can't belive Marie Claire let that be published. And that is the most insincere apology ever, it's obvious that the article is how she "really" feels. I love how she justifies it by saying she has friends who are "plump" - they're probably like a size 10.
The sad thing is, there probably are many people who feel this way; but publishing something like this in the national media makes these opinions "okay" for people to have. Yuck!
TTC #1 since 4/10, Dx: MFI IVF planned for April/May
I find it aesthetically displeasing to watch a very, very fat person simply walk across a room ? just like I'd find it distressing if I saw a very drunk person stumbling across a bar or a heroine addict slumping in a chair.
Seriously? WTH?? Aesthetically displeasing??? Comparing an overweight person to a drug addict??? OMG. I am stunned to find that Marie Claire would allow this BS to be posted on their site...Until they issue a public apology (and not just that crap on the blog), I'll never read them again. I have one on my desk right now at work...well, had. In the garbage. Intolerance is a very sore point with me, as it is with many. I have no patience at all for it
This was the most horrifying sentence of the whole ridiculous article. Did anyone notice (in the end of the "apology") it mentions that the author had battled with eating disorders. It's obviously her own issue - but what a shame that this was published at all.
I have no words....honestly. As an overweight, HEALTHY woman (which apparently is not possible...but guess what, no high bp, no high cholesterol, no diabetes here!!!) I am so offended that Marie Claire would allow something this close minded and downright mean to be posted. They should be ashamed of themselves. And her "apology" was the most insincere thing I think I've ever read.
Ok...I guess I DID have some words
