Disgusting. Absolutely shocking and disgusting. What makes people think in ANY situation such base behavior is acceptable?
The devolution of civility concerning political expression/beliefs in recent years is mind-blowing to me. As much as I would love to blame it on the Tea Party and Fox News (and really, they do hold A LOT of the responsibility for the extreme reactions to differing/opposing views), I think it is becoming a problem across the board.
Just this weekend I was discussing politics with a close family friend and I told him about the Bachmann/Clark race here in MN (I was in WI) and he said "Oh, Bachmann is pure evil - someone needs to shoot her!" I was shocked - this man I was talking to was almost 90, a retired college professor and has been a life-long active liberal. He would never advocate violence and yet those words came from his mouth. I'm sure he was just exaggerating or it was from a touch of dementia - but still!!
Politics and the democratic process are (were?) supposed to be the epitome of a modern civil society . . . what happed to change that so dramatically?
The Jezebel.com update: http://jezebel.com/5673928/a-non+apology-from-rand-paul-supporter-who-stomped-on-womans-head
He apologizes if it appears he was forceful. How's that for a not-at-all-apology apology? I'm glad he'll be facing charges.

The whole thing just reeks of people going waaaaaaaay too far. :-( So sad.
Her political stunt was described in the article. She was trying to give Rand Paul a "certificate" that announced he was the politician of the month for RepubliCorp - a made up political party that MoveOn.org created to try and define some republicans as being for corporations and not the people.
