Appetizer idea? Room Temperature and able to travel...
Hi! Looking for any inspiration on a fall-ish (or otherwise) appetizer for a dinner party with 10 people this Saturday. Needs to be able to travel for an hour in the car, so nothing "fresh out of the oven" or "fresh out of the fridge".
Someone else is bringing some cheese.
Any suggestions?
Re: Appetizer idea? Room Temperature and able to travel...
My first thought sounds more like a dessert but we usually have it out with the appetizers. it's a fruit pizza.
Take sugar cookie dough and roll it out to the size of a small pizza,
Bake according to directions
Cool
Combine 1 package for cream cheese with 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar
Frost over cookie
Cut cookie into serving size pieces (like square cuts on a pizza) but leave whole (does that make sense?)
Top with kiwi slices, mandarin orange slices, strawberry slices, blueberries
Maybe some sort of turkey pinwheel wrap that would keep? Or something like spanikopita that's ok if it's room temp?
I've currently got thanksgiving desserts on the brain, so I'm drawing a blank.

How about tomato & onion bruschetta..
Dice tomatoes and onions, drizzle in EVOO, balsamic vinegar, and a splash of water. Add chopped garlic and some spices.. Bring along Italian Bread and cut into small pieces when you get there.. The longer the tomatoes and onions sit in the Oil & Vinegar the better and you could totally serve at room temp...
Oh dh totally always picks up those bread things for dipping (usually spinache dip) but they are basically the perfect size for something like this too.
Hummus!
There are zillions of recipes out there for it -- it's basically chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, garlic, and lemon. It's served room temp and it'll be good for the flavors to meld before serving.
