doulas
Has anyone used one? If so, what did you think?
Owen is 2.5 yrs old and Molly is almost 1!

I know the some of girls on the baby board and loved them. I have never heard of anyone saying they didn't feel that it was needed or a waste of money. do you have names of them.
The one I hear of most is Sue something.
If you are going for a VBAC then I think it would be a great idea to have one. I think the medical staff could be very quick to rush for a c-section at the first sign that something could be "wrong". To date, I haven't heard of anyone saying that they didn't feel like their husband was left ouf of stuff, however I'm guessing a mother in labor wouldn't notice if he was.
I would bring up that concern to her and make sure he is included in your birth plan. I think they are very good about including the dads.

But I also wanted to say that if you're considering this, CALL NOW. The one we used, if not all of them, like to meet with clients a few times before the birth to get a handle on your personalities, preferences, birth plan, etc.

I'm passing on the doula. I thought about it but we will have our Bradley Instructor on call if we need her. I'm hoping that will help and a great midwife
I used Kriste Johns Weber from Birthing Grace (she's also a yoga instructor). She helped guide me through some difficult decisions with my labor and delivery options. She did make sure that my husband was very much included every step of the way. I think it was nice to have her guidence to make sure we got what we wanted.
I do have to give full disclosure that Kriste is my cousin. When it came down to my labor she was very much a doula though.

You might find this helpful. They have meet & greets at Hopscotch Children's store too. Doulas are awesome. I haven't used one (since I haven't given birth) but I know many. They are some amazingly well educated and dedicated women who want to support you in birthing the best and most healthy way you can. It frees up your DH to be an emotional support for you rather than having to navigate the hospital (if you're birthing in one) hoops & red tape.

You might be able to find a doula in training who can work with you but isn't quite as booked up yet.
