pregnancy tests

Are there any pregnancy tests you can take at home that can tell you even further in advance than the 6 day tests?  I think I might be pregnant  but I can't get into the doctor for another week and by then I'm scheduled to have my period.  I'm 10 days before my period.

Re: pregnancy tests

  • The only thing I would recommend would be using the FAM method of birth control - but if you haven't been using it thus far, then it wouldn't help you now.
  • Nope we haven't been using it, but thank you!!
  • Why would you think you might be pregnant that far ahead of your period?    Ovulation only occurs (generally) about 14 days before you start, so you think you got pregnant 4 days ago?    You wouldn't be having any sort of symptom yet.

But no, I've not heard of any that far out.   There's just not enough hormone to detect at that point.    Even the ones that test 5 days out only have like a 55% accuracy rate, which increases daily until the first day after a missed period.

You're just going to have to wait this one out, I think.

  • No there aren't any tests like that yet.  Depending on your cycle, the fertilized egg might not have even implanted in the uterus yet.

Is saw in another post that you might be having symptoms.  When we were TTC, I know I looked into everything single thing as a symptom.  Most of the time I was wrong.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I have never actually been pregnant, but I have 13 nieces and nephews... so I've been around for a few. None of the ladies ever said they had symptoms that soon after possible conception. Generally symptoms don't occur until around implantation, maybe a little sooner. It also takes roughly 10 - 14 days after conception for implantation to occur, which would generally be around your next period.

I think you will have to wait this one out.

  • Log onto fertilityfriend.com so you can learn about how one gets pregnant. There are little mini classes that explain how you ovulate 14 days into your period, you have about day 12-15 to get pregnant and it implants at least 10 days after. You could test 5 days before your expected period, but mine was a BFN. And I was pregnant when I tested again a week later.
