Holiday Cards with pics?

I was thinking of doing christmas cards for the first time, and was looking at VP to order some, and I'm trying to figure out if I want a picture card, or not.  My thinking is some of the people I would be sending cards to are extended family that we haven't seen in a while so if there's a picture of us it will help them reference who we are (is that silly?), but the only pics I have are the wedding pics and that seem innapropriate for a christmas card, but if there's one time you can get away with it, it's the xmas after your wedding right?

Is anyone using cards that have your pictures on it?  If so did you/are you going to have it be your wedding picture?  Thans ladies!!!

:)

  • I think a wedding pic would be just fine (but just for this year Wink) That's what I did. It's nice to have pictures on Christmas cards because then people know who you are. A wedding picture the year you get married makes sense b/c that's a big deal and I'm sure everyone would love to have a wedding picture of you guys.

    HTH!

  • We did one last year (the year we got married). We made a holiday website w/ pic of the wedding to.Everybody loved it, especially the people that couldn't make it to the wedding.

  • We used a wedding pic for our Christmas card last year, we used shutterfly b/c we had a coupon. Now I gotta figure out what we're gonna use this year, lol

  • My DH hates, HATES pictures of himself.  Hates having them taken, hates having to look at them.  He really didn't want me to print any of our wedding photos to hang around the house, and he throws a hissy fit when I put up a pic of him on FB.

So... no.  I doubt we'll ever do holiday cards with a photo of us.  :)

  • We did a holiday pic card last year with pictures from our wedding (we got married in May 09).  Next year we'll be doing baby/family picture cards.  This year though.. just regular 'ole cards :)
  • We're using pics from our wedding since it was less then 2 months ago.  I figure we can get away with it this year though.  I was actually toying around with shutterfly yesterday and made a couple of mocks-up.  I asked DH if he liked them and he said yea but he would rather make them.  While its nice to be married to a graphic designer, it gets to be a pain in the butt because he's so busy at work that he doesn't want to come home and do more stuff.  Which I understand, but I want to get them out in a timely fashion.  Grrrrr....

  • That is what we did the year we got married, then last year it was a pro pic of Alexa. I always buy the cards that you have to put a 4x6 photo in, that way if they want they can actually do something with the photo afterwords rather then having an awkward sized photo on those ones you can get printed.

  • While we're on the subject, where does everyone get their cards?  I like the idea of the frame that people can take the picture out if they want...

  • i have been thinking about this too for a few weeks. i think i am going to make them (on shutterfly, or VP, whichever has the best deal) and will pick a template that can have two pics so i can have one regular pic and one wedding picture...or something like that!
