I didn't vote because the answer is Thursday.
It's never actually on Halloween and all seems to be a random weekday. The nice thing is every suburb is different so you can hit up multiple ones! Mmmmm candy.
Ours in on Sunday and I live in the south. I find it a bit odd that it is on Sunday night.
I always remember it being on a weeknight as a kid growing up in Ohio.
Southeast TN and North GA never do it on Sunday, which is why I was asking about other places.

I chose Sunday... Although some of the activities (church carnivals, mall trunk or treating) are on Saturday.
And in the city in Oklahoma where H's daughter is, the city trick or treating festival downtown is on Saturday.

That is interesting. I didn't know that. Is there a reason why?
Depends on who you ask. The local news claims that it's to allow those families that attend church on Sunday night to still attend church and do the trick or treats on Saturday. Which makes little sense since most of those families take their kids to the church Halloween activities anyway. And really? Go to morning services.
But from what we have always been told, the holy rollers in that area still look at Halloween as a Pagan holiday and it's got Satan written all over it. Yeah, pretty damn stupid.
For almost every kid, it's about dressing up and getting lots of candy. I don't care HOW it came about... that's not how the kids think of it.

Exactly, let kids be kids and go get candy. They grow up so fast these days and there are a lot of worse things they could be doing.
I thought most people go to church on Sunday mornings as well. If they don't want their kids to go trick or treating, then don't send them, plain and simple. Trick or treat night should not be determined by someones beliefs but rather what works best for the city or town.
Ditto. I had no idea moving Halloween to another day was so prevalent in other places.
I can't believe you all trick or treat on Halloween! It has never been on actual halloween here (because you know that is when all the hoodlums are out causing trouble or some such nonsense).
It is also never on Friday or Saturday because of highschool/college football, hence thursday night.
Hi, my name is Britt and I live in a hicktown.
