cause I'm a big weeny. So of course Chloe is having some problems with just peeing while laying around, similar to what happened a few weeks ago. Well, this morning she had 3 accidents in the span of 45 min. So I called the vet and we went this afternoon.
We collected some urine, with no UTI. No reason for her to be "leaking." The vet suspects that the sphincter is not as toned as it should be, so we started her on some medicine for that.
I cried because we were talking about why she was drinking so much and peeing so much even though her kidney labs are fine, and she's just 2 years old and that I was really worried about her! The vet was super nice and made me feel better, and welcomed Adam and I to get a second opinion if we wanted one. I don't know what we'll do. Hopefully this medicine works.
She also needs to lose 15lbs. ![]()

Re: I cried at the vet today
oh my you poor thing, of course you cried not only is chloe your baby but shes been to the vet a million times and she still isn't feeling better and i'm sure you wallet isn't happy either.
I wish i could say something to make you feel better! *hugs* always work instead. Our old family lab had this problem where she just peed in her sleep, she had kidney problems from eating fertilizer as a puppy. She took medicine for urinary incontinence and that worked.
I hope they can figure out what is wrong with Chloe, for now give her hugs from her aunties on the nest!!!
I'm so sorry about Chloe! She will be just fine though. Sometimes it takes a while to really nail down what the problem is.
Our chocolate lab, Maverick, could probably lose 5-10lbs and it wouldnt hurt him. He is super active though so i'm not sure how id do it b/c I give him the recommended amount of food for his size. We go on walks at least twice a week along with going on nature trails and swimming on Sundays. Plus him and our boxer puppy, Lily, play all day long. I think he's just "big boned" lol.

hahaha...thanks for making me laugh.

So sorry Becky. It's miserable to watch your baby suffer.
I'm going to throw something out that may have been mentioned in another post somewhere, but I don't recall seeing it. Is the urine sticky or does it have a weird odor or color to it? Has anyone mentioned diabetes? Drinking lots of water and frequent urine accidents can be a sign of that, along with any "yes" answers to my first question.
It is possible to control diabetes in animals like we can in humans. There are a lot of variables to consider. Pak can probably speak to that way better than I can.
Now that I've given her this new med, I'm all paranoid that she's breathing differently, and an increased heart rate is a side effect, and I actually pulled out my stethoscope and listened to her heart!! For a minute I got scared because I thought it sounded irregular. I'm so anxious.
Jen, they did a chemistry panel a couple weeks ago on her and didn't say anything about her glucose looked fine. I also have urine dip sticks I'm using and there were no ketones and no glucose in her urine. I definitely thought of that.

Yes, this is what they put her on. The vet used it on her female dog and said it worked fine (up until the end, where she had to put her dog in diapers
) I just get worked up and worried about her, and the thought of having to put her in diapers breaks my heart, since she is so young.
All this drama makes me never want to have another dog because I don't think I could go through this stress again!
