Cat momma's, fun post

Now that I've been a cat parent for about 3 weeks we're learning some of their adorable quirky personalities.  I'd love to hear yours! I'll share mine:

Our boy, Jack, loves to cross his front paws.  He loves to be on the very edge of beds/couches where I swear he's going to fall off.  He also loves to lean up against people or things so his head is at a bizarre angle.

Our girl, Mud, LOVES to be under blankets. She also spent time snuggled in a shirt I was wearing, like a baby wrap, the other night. So cute!

I know there are more but I'm having a mid-afternoon crash of fatigue!

What're your fun cat quirks?

Re: Cat momma's, fun post

  • If it a quirk that, despite having a full bowl of clean water in a clean bowl, he still prefers the water in the toilet?

    He's very weird.

  • I have a very high maintenence cat.  I mean, she whines and bats at our feet to clean out her litter box three times a day. We tried getting another litter box....and that just made us clean out two litter boxes three times a day.

She loves my husband and tolerates me.  He can hold her, snuggle her, pet her...I reach my hand in her general direction and she books it for the hills.

She sits in front of the fireplace and meows until we turn it on.   She then sprawls out in front of it all evening.  Usually on her back with her back legs straight out and her front legs curled up near her chest area.  It's so adorable.

She will jump on me if I don't get up with the first alarm buzz, because needs to be fed.  Pretty soon, if I'm not moving, she'll start batting my nose with her paw until I finally get out of bed.  Then she will stay at my feet, making sure I go right to her dish.

She has recently gained a new love for the garage.  Anytime we open the door to go out, she tries to sneak out behind us.  She's been successful a few times and we can't get her to come back in.  Bribery ensues.

I have a couple throw pillows that are on the chair in the living room.  She throws a fit until we move the pillows so that she can sit on "her" chair.

We created a monster, I believe.

  • I have 2 male Ragdolls (mixes).

Ace has this nasty habit/joy of pushing things off counters or ledges.  I have to survey countertops before bed or anything near the edge will be pushed off.  The worst instances were a glass full of water pushed off the nightstand (shattered) and my cellphone off the kitchen counter into the garbage (at least I SAW him do that!).

Everyday when I come home from work, I have to open the door just a tiny little bit- because Sailor's nose is right there in the crack and he's ready to run into the hallway.  It's like they know exactly when I get home from work- because they both sit and wait by the door.

There has been a handful of times I forget to set my alarms for work.  Each time they've caused a huge rucous in my room waking me up within 10 minutes of when my alarm should've gone off (again, the weird cat timeclock thing).

Ace doesn't cover his business in the litterbox.  Instead of wiping the litter, he wipes the walls around him.  Once when I had the cover off he wiped the wall, the bookshelf and then Sailor's head.

I could go on for days...I have goofy boys. =)
