NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
I am so, so, so annoyed.
I think Mondo is, by far, the better designer. I think, though, that he opened the door just enough to let Michael Kors and Nina Garcia push Gretchen through because he didn't do enough editing. Total crappy outcome.
This exactly!!! I would never buy ANYTHING that Gretchen made. I would totally buy that bubble dress that Mondo made, as well as the dress that Nina and Michael hated.
The only thing I can think of to justify their decision was that they were actually doing Mondo a favor in giving him the opportunity to go and do whatever he wanted and not be bound to the Project Runway winner contract. Like in American Idol where the loosers are free to do whatever they want and the winners are stuck to a contract for a while. Who knows!!!
That is a good point...I just really didn't want Gretchen and her knit green panties to win. And Nina and Michael were calling her stuff "sellable"! SNORT! Who on EARTH would buy those panty things? They didn't even look good on the 50 pound models! And since when is the show called "Project Sell At Macy's"??????? Ugh. So annoyed.
I basically wanted to stick a pencil in Michael and Nina's eyes. I've had about enough of both of them.
I do hope Mondo goes out and takes over the world and becomes insanely successful. And how ADORABLE was his hair at the runway show? LOVED it.
Aaaand *deep breath* it's just a tv show....
:-)
I'm pissed. And I'm done with PR now too. Looking back at the season now, it seems so apparent they were setting Gretchen up for the win. Give her a couple of early wins (for crappy clothing, IMO), make her the b!tch, keep her over a more deserving designer a few times, and viola! winner!
I am glad that Mondo will be able to do what he wants now, but he should have won. Period.
Why is it that the granny panties were the most awful thing ever done by a designer when April did them, but completely fashion forward when Gretchen did them? Why was Andy punished for listening to their suggestions and Gretchen praised? It's BS.
Did anyone else feel that Nina and Michael were contradicting themselves about some things? At one point they said this show is about the "Up and coming fashion" and then called Gretchen a "current right now designer". PICK ONE. Up-and-coming or now - can't be both! (And really...what is "right now" about frumpy dumpy fashion from the 70's/80's??)
I'm sure they are all coached on what to say and what to disagree on. I wonder who had the final say since it was an obvious tie between the 4 judges.
Last night's episode made it VERY apparent this IS just a tv show produced for ratings and tv drama and that opinions about fashion are so subjective.
Well I think EVERYONE is pissed! I haven't heard one good thing about Gretchen winning. I was so sad! If you check out Lifetime's message boards they are blowing up with disgust that Mondo didn't win.
But you are right, maybe they wanted Gretchen to win to stir up controversy because look how many people are talking about it?
It still makes me so mad and sad! I LOVE Mondo!!
Diddo to everything dissing Gretchen. AndJessica Simpson? They couldn't find a bigger celebrity? She hasgained a few pounds over the last few years, wow.
In mulling it over, I think Mondo was also hurt by the fact that he was more similar to Seth Aaron, and I think they like to mix things up with the winners. They don't want the crazy designs to win every year.
Also, totally agree re: Jessica Simpson. She's beautiful, but the extra weight doesn't suit her very much, or she needs to dress differently for it.
She was wearing Michael Kors, natch.
Natch! But of course, like Heidi, JSimp favors short, short, short. And tight, although this dress wasn't. Short and tight suit her right now.
I love the Dutchess in his sunglasses, though. Can't help myself.
The comments on project rungay are equally angry.
The Dutchess. *snort*. Love it.
An aside: I Googled "dutchess" and get matches for that spelling AND "duchess". Hmmm. Are they the same thing?
All season long the judges have been bashing any contestant who used the same color more than twice, designed an outfit that was deemed off the rack, and used the same silhouette again and again. Gretchen committed all three offenses and they named her the winner? They reamed April for her granny pants and yet Gretchen had one in her collection (was wearing the other one) and no one mentions anything? The judging has been inconsistent all season long. I don't get the love for Gretchen. Her collection was "granola" last week but apparently all it needed was heels and garish lipstick and now it's glam.
Project Runway should be called Project Clearance Rack.
LOL, my screen name bled into my typing. I meant to type Duchess. (But again, I had to backspace to delete the T! My fingers have minds of their own.)
Also, I can't take credit for it.
It is his nickname all over the interwebs.
