Getting paint out of jeans

Hi ladies!  I've only lurked on this board, but find you all really helpful.  I recently painted a wall and got a couple spots of paint on my jeans.  Is there a way to get the paint off?  Or are they ruined?  TIA

Re: Getting paint out of jeans

  • They're ruined. Don't throw them out though... store them somewhere (I keep my painting & gardening clothes on the shelf in my closet) and use them next time you paint so you don't ruin another pair of jeans.
  • I ruined a bran new pair of jeans this way.  When DH were trying to close on our house, the VA inspector wouldn't approve because of paint on our shed.  The realtor told us if we put a new coat of paint on the shed, she could get the inspector to stop by before the end of the day.  In my rush to close on the house, I left work (luckily it was a casuall Friday) and went straight to the house to paint the damn shed.  I was super careful to not get paint on me, but then ended up squatting over the can not realizing it.  Once my grandma pointed out I had white rings across my butt, I said "screw it" and kept painting.  Now, I just wear them around the house or when I'm working outside.  I occasionalyl wear them if I'm running errands, too.

  • I got paint on a favorite pair of jeans and used Goof Off to get it off. Then I used Shout to get that off! It stinks, but it even works on old spots.
  • Just thought I would come back to report my success in getting the paint out.  Even after the jeans sat for a week without me trying anything I was able to get the paint out completely with rubbing alcohol.  I just poured some on and scrubbed.  It took a little elbow grease, but was not too bad!
