Other boards

Has anyone posted on other boards?  I've posted on a few but I kind of get the feeling like I am intruding on those boards.  It seems like they all have their regulars and I feel like an outsider trying to get into the mix.  I'm a little intimidated to post on other boards.

I don't know, it could just be me, but does anyone else feel this way?

Re: Other boards

  • I feel that way too sometimes, depending on the board. Some boards, I have been welcomed into, but I just can't keep up with because they are so active.

  • I guess it depends on the board. I've been posting on and off on the What's Cooking board for about a year now so I feel comfortable posting there.

I thought about posting on my local since I remember all of the ladies from the Knot, but it feels awkward to me since they've all been there for a while.

ETA: haha, I read this first and then went to the What's Cooking board and saw your post there. So I said hi again. =)

  • I post on the Travel board and Green Living.  The Travel board has a lot of people in and out with different experiences and advice, so I don't feel uncomfortable posting there.  The GL board has a lot of ladies who are way more educated than me on green stuff, so I do sometimes feel intimidated over there, but if it's something I really know about, I don't feel weird.

I'm in the same boat with LTB on our local board, though.  I feel like those boards are pretty cliquey sometimes.

  • I have yet to post on another board yet. I lurk, but haven't really felt the need to post. I may ween myself in at some point. This is hands down the board I'm the most comfortable on.

  • Yea I definitely feel that way too. I lurk on the Health and Fitness board a lot but am too chicken to post - they all seem to be such hard core runners and whatnot that it's intimidating. I don't post much in general but like Steiffel, I need to start weening my way in :)

  • I don't post on any other boards on The nest but I post on TTC on the bump and even there I feel like I'm intruiding sometimes.

I think the September 2010 just has the best group of people and maybe you all have made me raise my standards as far as what I expect out of a board so that's why i don't like the others.  Smile

  • I have been doing a lot od lurking, but I have posted a few times on the crafts board and the green living board. I haven't really felt *un*welcome on either, though they definetely have their regulars. There are a few boards that scare me a little, like married life and the S&R board, I don't know when I'll be comfortable there.

  • I sometimes post on Wedding Woes and Moms & Maids on the knot. I lurk on BNOTB a bit, but it's not really about not wanting kids, so not so much.
  • When I first got on TK, I would go to E every once in a while for a good laugh. Never really checked out my locals. Now that we've moved to TN, I'm on less in general but I def. haven't explored any other TN boards.

  • I definitely post the most on this board.
My local board is dead, I've tried posting a few times on there, but no one's ever around. :(
I've posted on the What's Cooking and Holiday boards a few times, but haven't ever felt unwelcomed...yet.

This board is def. by far the best out there!

  • I feel like our local is very clique-y, I rarely post there.

I post on a few other boards occasionally, and I mostly feel ignored.  Not in a bad way, exactly (it's better than getting flamed).  The other boards I visit (JM, P&CE ,and F&B) are clique-y but also have a ton more posters, and a lot of newbs, so I don't feel like I stand out as a stranger, but also don't feel like I can chime in on a lot of discussions.

  • I guess the key is to ween myself in too.  It will take time but I hope to post somewhat regularly on other boards too.

  • Also, I kind of hate the What's Cooking board.  They need to just have a daily B/U thread where everyone posts their PIP and link and be done with it.  It's such a PITA to sift through every freaking B/U post, especially since they're all the same kind of fall-themed crap right now so I'm not even interested.  And there are SO many posts per day that the 'conversation' threads get completely lost.
