I just told DH how easy he has it (name change, etc)
What a nightmare all of this has been! Anyone else running into hassles?
Here's my best example. DH has a platinum AmEx, so he added me to his account and the plan was to cancel mine and roll the points into his account. Everyone we talked to said that was fine. He added me, and when I went to close mine, they couldn't do anything because my name is different on each card. They have to mail me paperwork that I have to mail back to change my name, issue me a new card, then I can transfer the points and cancel it. Annoying?
Re: I just told DH how easy he has it (name change, etc)
I haven't technically started filling stuff out but i've went online to print everything but everyone wants certified copies of our marriage license so I have to go up to the court house and wait in line to get them. It's such a hassle I wish I could just keep my name!
Plus to make it worse me and H keep going back and forth on if I should keep my middle name or move my maiden name to middle and drop my original middle name. If that makes sence. He says I should drop my maiden completely but I have a hard time letting it go.
Honestly, everything has been pretty easy. The only thing is that I've been to lazy to go to the DMV and get a new license, but that's the only thing I have left to change. I did have to take a day off from work to do a couple of things in person, but I just did it the day after we got back from the HM. Most places let me fax the documents or just do it over the phone/internet with no documents at all, which was really nice.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Like PP's, I haven't had much of an issue. In fact, I haven't had one at all. I started with the SSA and went from there. Aside from that & the DMV, I was able to fax over copies of the license (which we still haven't gotten our official copy yet). I only have one credit card that I use, so that was all that needed to be changed. All un-used cards (that I actually need to close!) still have my maiden name on them.
This doesn't mean it's any less of a pain in the ass though. The only issue I've had is dealing with getting rid of my maiden name - I've loathed the whole name changing process because of this. A part of me regrets not making it my middle name.. and changing it over to J's so quickly. I just wanted to avoid confusion and not have 2 different names floating around. Now I sort of wish I did though - there's no L left!

I have run into no hassles because I have not changed my name or even attempted it yet. I'm dragging my feet on it, I know. I have return address labels and all, but officially it's not changed.
Why should you drop your maiden name completely? It's your name. What's the problem with making it your middle name if that's what you want?
