Anyone going to the Run Like Hell tonight? This is such a fun event and I look forward to it every year! I love seeing all the costumes people come up with!
Re: Run Like Hell
A friend and I were going to run it but then we heard some really bad reports on it from some fellow runners. They said that unless you were in the first 200 people up front, there was no chance at running at all - you got forced to walk it b/c of the crowd and that the after-party was shoulder-to-shoulder crowded. One person got separated from their spouse and couldn't get through the crowd to get back over to them.
Really?? This wasn't my experience at all. I mean, I only ran it once, but I definitely was able to run the entire thing (and I definitely was not in the first 200 runners). The after-party does tend to be a bit crowded. I did read that they changed the race route this year, so maybe that will help at least that problem a bit? I'll report back!
That wasn't my experience last night. I started decently far back, and I was able to run the whole thing, besides a minute or two at the very beginning, and when we got to the cemetery it got crowded and I walked for 5 seconds or so. It's not at all a race you run for a PR - it IS crowded and hard to pass people at times (especially when they're wearing bulky costumes) and there are some crazy hills. And they only officially time the top 50 males and females (which I was not.
) But it's really fun running in costume and seeing everyone else's costumes and watching everyone be goofy!
Didn't stay for the afterparty, besides grabbing some water and hot chocolate. It was really crowded, I'm not a huge fan of crowds, and H didn't want to pay $20 just to get in. (His knee was hatin' so he didn't run.)
