Here's some background on my exercise history. I have been a member of my gym since 1998. I have gone through spurts, as I think many of us do, of going and not going.
I was into Step class for a while, going up to three times a week. Then about five years ago I joined a running club at the gym and started training for 5Ks-5Ms. I have done about 10, to date.
Then about 2 years ago, I started doing bootcamp once a week with friends, weather permitting. As the wedding approached this year, however I was reluctant to do anything rigorous for fear of twisting my ankle or worse before the wedding, lol. I just tried to watch what I was eating, mainly cutting out my beloved coca-cola addiction.
Well, since the honeymoon, being unemployed and drinking soda, my weight has gone up! A couple of days ago, the person who lives upstairs received a package with the word "Zumba" on it. (I was not snooping, lol, I actually brought it in for her from the front step) My interest was peeked so I googled it and I loved what I saw. I had seen infomercials before but for some reason I never really paid much attention
So, tonight I went to my first Zumba class. It happen to be at my gym I've been paying for and not attending! The music was so good! It was a combination of Dance, Latin, Indian, and Reggaeton music. There were all kinds of people and all ages. It really went fast, because it really did not feel like exercise. I love to dance, so this was really up my alley, and I think I may be hooked! Boy did I sweat!
Anybody else try this?
Re: Zumba?! Really?
Never tried it...but if it made you feel good, stick with it! :-)
I miss my dance classes...but it's hard to take class when you're also teaching a class that overlaps!
I've wanted to try it, but my gym makes me pay for it. However, starting next month my gym membership rate goes WAY down because I have been there for a long time. This may give me the motivation to try it.
Glad to hear someone else who loves it!
I've been teaching Zumba for over two years and it's been a great way for me to stay in shape. I initially lost about 50 lbs when I started and have kept it off. Glad you found an exercise that you enjoy!
My mom has been teaching zumba for over two years and has lost 50 pounds. She is really psycho into it and all her friends are really into it too. Personally I hate exercising and could never really get into it. That's great that you liked it it's an awesome work out and you can burn up to 500 calories in an hour with the right instructor.
I'm also unemployed and have gained all the weight I lost before the wedding I really need to get off my butt. Being unemployed and staying home is sort of depressing.
Keep it going!

I loved the zumba class I have been to and thought - wow how easy.
And then the next day my entire body was killing me. Obviously it worked. Now I can't find the time to get to the class.
Stick with it!
