Unused Shower Gifts?

Deb's appliance post got me thinking...what did you register for or receive as a gift for your shower that you haven't used yet?

My shower was in June and we used everything right away. Stuff we have yet to use:

  • handheld blender
  • 18 qt roaster oven
  • quiche dish
  • espresso maker
  • chip & dip set
  • placemats
  • linen napkins
  • butter warmer
  • cast iron skillet
  • salad bowl set
  • appetizers on ice serving pieces

Re: Unused Shower Gifts?

  • The only thing, really, is our stick blender.  We also got three different fancy crystal serving items, but I knew I'd never use them.

  • We haven't used some things yet either, either because they're in the back of the closet since we have basically no cabinet/kitcen space, or just because I haven't had use for them just yet:

    • Electric griddle
    • Food processor
    • Crockpot
    • Hand mixer
    • Blender
    • Countertop mixer
    • Saladmixer
    • Linen napkins
    • Napkin rings
    • Butter dish (we've been buying butter in a container, why did I ask for this? Haha).
    • Seashell/beachy cheese tray set
    • Seashell/beachy salad bowl set
    • Chip/dip server
    • Veggie tray server
    • Regular coffee pot
    • Wafflemaker

We also have plenty of extra placesettings, glasses & silverware that we don't plan on returning to keep as "back-ups".

  • Add my salad spinner to the list as well.

  • MIL got us the TV ears (they're headphones so DH could watch TV at bedtime and I wouldn't have to hear it).  She has them and loves them and we can't really return them to Costco w/o a receipt. They may never be used...

    We also haven't used:

Bread pans (soon, with the holidays coming up)

    Rolling Pin (soon)

Toaster oven baking set (cake pan, muffin pan)

    Joy of Cooking cookbook

Other than that, we have used everything that we registered for.

This just made me realize I don't even own a rolling pin.. or ever thought about adding one to the registry. Whoops.

  • We have used nothing! Everything is stowed away in my parents' attic until next year or so!

ah, i use ours all.the.time.  love.

i cant even think right now of all of the things we got that we havent used yet.  a lot of bowls.  some place mats (love them, they just dont really fit on our table...) a cast iron skillet, and the automatic cocktail shaker.  come on, how lazy are you that you cannot shake your own cocktails?  it is still in the box.

  • Anything we got that we didn't need I exchanged for something else. Haven't use the waffle-maker yet, didn't really need it but like the idea of having it if i ever do.

  • I feel like a gift wh0re, reading this.  I search for recipes to make that incorporate as many new kitchen toys as possible.  And I get all giddy every time I use one, even the little things like the chop 'n scoop cutting boards.  I think the problem with the stick blender is that it got stuck in a cabinet so I forgot about it.  We didn't register for anything that I didn't think we would use - every item was something that I was like, "YES!  I always wanted to make such-and-such but I don't have a [insert product here]".
