Auburn Nesties--Restaurant Recommendations Pls!

Hey ladies! My birthday is next Saturday and DH will actually be home instead of on the road recruiting! Woo-hoo!

I'm trying to decide where I want to go for dinner on my birthday and since I really haven't been to very many restaurants here, I'm looking for your recommendations. Some places I have in mind (that have been recommended to me by my co-workers) are:

Amsterdam Cafe

Ariccia

Warehouse Bistro

Christophers

and Yellow Hammer, which is in Waverly

I've only been to Ariccia for brunch once. I'm looking for some really yummy food, a good atmosphere (romantic, trendy, fun, something like that) and some good drinks!

What do you all think? Or is there somewhere better to go?

Also, I'm thinking it might be fun to go to Eighth and Rail after dinner for drinks....is that a good place to go?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Auburn Nesties--Restaurant Recommendations Pls!

  • Well it will be an away game wknd (well the game is Thurs) so not as busy out. Here are my rec's

    -  I LOVE Amsterdam and it is an Auburn favorite.  It has a bar, is somewhat trendy and every age loves it.  They have a unique menu too.  I love that place!!!

    - Arricia  is great but if you've been there then I'd try something else.....

    - I like Christopher and it can be pricey.  We went there for one of our first dates and Brad loves the steaks there.  I know they have done a lot to it though recently.  It's a great place to go

    - I haven't been to Warehouse Bistro - we are hoping to go there soon.  But EVERYONE loves it and I've heard their desserts are amazing.  Then you wouldn't be far from going to 8th and Rail afterwards.....

    - I've never heard of and don't know anything about Yellow Hammer (plus it sounds too much like a Bammer cheer - HA!!)

    - If you like seafood we went to Zazu's downtown for my bday and I really liked it.

    - There's also Cafe 123 and I can't remember when they are open though but have heard they are good as well.

Amy, Vanessa and Heather I'm sure will be able to add some suggestions as well.  Hope that helps!!!  OH and Amy loves 8th and Rail so that would be a great place to go after from what I've heard.  I have yet to go.

    Happy early birthday girl!!!  Wink
p.s.  - sorry this was so long!!!

  • I LOVE Amsterdam Cafe, but so does a good part of the AU student body...so if you're looking for romantic...its a little crowded for that.  But it is delicious and fun.

For a special evening, I think Warehouse Bistro is great.  I've LOVED their food everytime I've eaten there or been to an event that they catered. I'm a VERY picky eater, but I'll try almost anything on their menu. Its quiet and rarely crowded.  And you are very close to 8th and Rail...which is the best bar around.  8th and Rail also has good desserts.

  • I love Warehouse Bistro, Amsterdam and Hamiltons. We went to Hamiltons for our anniversary this year. We had our rehearsal dinner at Warehouse Bistro. I've never been to Cafe 123 at night but have heard good things about them and have had their appetizers type food at several things.

AND I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Eighth and Rail...they have the best champagne martinis and you have to try the Eighth and Rail lemonade.

  • ha..i hadn't heard of cafe 123 til this past tuesday but the girl who does my hair is married to the head chef there.

anyway, i've never been to any of those places but my current fave meal at a restaurant is Johnny Carino's baked cheese tortelloni
