Anyone around this evening? I just got home from drinks with a friend, and I'm now waiting for a sushi delivery while watching What Not to Wear. And of course, I have the requisite glass of wine in hand.

I'm here, but not NUI. I got home and had no red wine and no white in the fridge. Beer is my only option right now and I don't particularly like it.
I'm watching some vampire/werewolf thing on t.v. and waiting for Jim to get home so we can eat.

I've decided against opening a whole bottle of wine for myself and made some of blender's pumpkin pancakes instead.
Every time I think TLC can't stoop any lower, I later find out that I'm wrong. What is the premise of the Sarah Palin show? Good grief.
reba, how are you feeling?

I made the opposite decision...bottle of wine all to myself. I don't think I'll finish it though, or that would mean w6d2 totally out the window, as well as most of the day.
Not quite sure what the show is about, but it seems like SP's view on Alaska--the TLC summary shows salmon fishing and her family. It's probably just another publicity stunt, as far as I'm concerned. I know this sounds ignorant, but is politics in Canada as bizarre and pathetic as it is in the US?
Awww, V, what's wrong?
See, I made girl23's chili way too spicy, and while it was delicious, it didn't really agree with V. Not to mention yesterday we had BBQ for lunch and wings & beer for dinner. That may have not helped.
I think Canadian politics involves a lot less fear-mongering than US politics. Not to say it's free from drama though. Politics always involves drama, of course. But there's a much smaller divide between the ideologies of each party. Even our "Conservative" party is more or less as liberal as your Democrats. So generally it's more tame, I think.
One example of recent drama was that the federal government decided to do away with the long census form which was mandatory to fill out. It used to be distributed to 20% of the population while everyone else got a shorter form, and collected info about religion, income, ethnicity etc. Now it'll still be distributed but it'll be optional. The argument was that some people complained that it was too intrusive, but the argument against scrapping was that it'll compromise the integrity of the data, which is used to plan for education, healthcare, etc.
Our municipal politics has been exciting recently though. We just elected a total d-bag for a mayor in Toronto. Yay.

Convince V to post, it could get interesting!
Lol, Beth--definitely!
Ringy, I totally hear you. Our mayor in Chicago is resigning, and it could get ugly here. The schools are finally starting to turn, and B and I want to stay in the city, but it could determine whether or not we move to the burbs. Chicago is all about the machine. B actually tried to get himself appointed as alderman last year but lost out to someone more connected. Anyway, I'm nervous about Tuesday's election, but not too much I can do but vote.

Eh, I'm ok, I guess. The logical part of my brain knew that our chances still weren't great at my age, but the emotional part took over and got me all excited that we actually had a chance this time. We'll just try again whenever AF shows up again.

I know this won't make you feel any better, but we're probably going the adoption route. My chances of having kids is really low, and... well... I promise, you get used to the idea that your path will be different than you thought it was going to be. Whatever path you guys end up on, you'll be great parents.
