Now that both of my kids are STTN on a regular basis, I find that reading has become a part of my life again. I just finished reading "The Boy In The Stripped Pajamas" and the "Secret Daughter" which are both fabulous books so my expectation are set high now to find something new that can compare.
Can someone please recommend a book that they loved.
TIA
Re: Book recommendations
I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
The Hunger Games (series) by Suzanne Collins
Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
Crow Lake by Mary Lawson
Thanks!
Hunger Games sounds like it has a very interesting story to it. I'll check it out for sure.
I'm reading the Hunger Games right now and I find it very odd but I'm giving it a good quality shot.
I just read Still Alice by Lisa Genova. It's a first person narrative about getting early onset Alzheimer. So great and I would highly recommend it.
The Memory Keeper's Daughter was good.
I also liked Lucky by Alice Sebold.
From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz and his Odd Thomas series are my favorites.
I also like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Oh, and kind of an odd read but I enjoyed it anyway was "The Book Thief"
This are my favorites out of all I have read in the last 2 years.
The Book of Negros, Lawrence Hill
The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo, Steig Larson
The Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follet
World Without End, Ken Follet
The last two are massive reads but they are amazing. My most favorite books of all time.
A few of my recommendations have been noted above already like: Still Alice, Book of Negroes, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Some other good reads I've had were: Water for Elephants, Little Bee, The Glass Castle and The Birth House.
A book I've been hearing really great things about is Sarah's Key and I think The Forgotten Garden was another one I heard was good.
I have the Hunger Games series on my list of reads, as well as the rest of the Dragon Tattoo series and Secret Daughter - I'm glad you liked it, I've been hearing really good reviews about it.
I highly recommend:
I find most of my books through searching in second hand stores... and occasionaslly through online shopping. Two great websites are http://thebookdepository.com (free shipping) and http://bookdepot.com
Happy reading, fellow bookworms
