Our house was new when we bought it 4 years ago. Through out most of it we have light beige/cream colored carpeting. After living there a year or so we noticed that little dark spots ( brownish colored) were popping up in random spots. At first I thought someone had spilled something and we started shampooing the carpets every 3 months or so. The shampooing does seem to help with the spots, they go away for about 2 weeks after we do it but then they are back! Plus more spots keep showing up!. Any tips on what they might be or how to get rid of this? Ugh, I'm at my witts end
Re: Weird stains in carpet.
This happened to me, and it is common in apartment homes where they just shampoo between tenants.
It is most likely the padding underneath. That material is like a sponge-by design. To rid it forever you would have to replace that portion. Or a cheaper solution would be to hide it under a rug. Not ideal but certainly less than having a corner of you living room carpet replaced than the matte not matching.
I swear by Folex stain remover! It's non-toxic enzymes and works amazing, you can find it a Home Depot (in the flooring dept by the carpet cleaners) and sometimes Walmart. The best part is that you don't need to rinse it. Put it in a carpet cleaner (no defoamer needed) and try to clean the spot. If that doesn' work then get a professional to come out and clean that room. Their machines get much hotter and don't even compare to the Hoover! Good Luck!
