Costumes or crafts or cooking to share? (Perhaps this post will be helpful/well attended tomorrow...)

Here was my baking contribution to the Halloween party we attended last night:

And here were our costumes. (Again, this was the "superhero alter ego of ourselves -- "Word Nerd" (me, the book nut) and "Game Geek" (him, the digital everything fan):

I bet your cupcakes were hit - they're so cute! Er... I mean scary!

Tonight is ToT in my neighborhood, but DH will be at his basketball league thingie. Why am I nervous to hand out candy by myself??

SBS, great job! But did you post somewhere that you didn't even eat one of them?!

Mames, I'm nervous, too. But it's because I want to use all the door bell ringing to train Rufus not to get so excited about the front door, but DH won't be here to help me. So I have no way to restrain Rufus (none of our furniture is heavy enough to tether him to), which means he may end up out in the backyard. Maybe DH will get home early. Doubtful. Sigh.

So, good news is I did not get burlged. Bad news, we had like 5 kids, so we have a shitton of candy left. Looks like I'll be bringing a ton into work.

SBS, I LOVE the cupcakes! They look so cute and yummy!

I stayed home to give out candy tonight, but NOT ONE KID CAME. Granted, we are on a dead end, but still I was hoping to see at least a couple of kids. Our neighborhood is kind of strange, I ran to the grocery store quickly to find that one street on our neighborhood had A BAZILLION KIDS trick-or-treating. It literally took 5 mins of waiting for pedestrians before I could get through the intersection. I was both jealous and thankful that I didnt have to buy like 10 pounds of candy to feed the mob.

Mames, it's a real, but dead snake. Although it moved at some point, so I think maybe the kids came back and moved it to scare me more. Some dad threw it into the grass for me.

So far, Rufus is doing good. I've got the front door open and he's just sitting there. And when the kids come, he won't stay, but he stays inside, well his butt does at least. He's gonna get a neck strain from sticking his out the door! LOL He's trying to get as much of himself outside as possible while still obeying the "inside" command. It's pretty hilarious.

Megs, awesome pumpkins! You have some mad carving skills!

ETA: Some young guy (late teens maybe) came by looking for the "house with the snake in front of it with a grey suv". I told him that was me and it was still in the grass, so he took it. Oh, and he had a snake t-shirt on. Very strange. He's the only person Rufus has barked at so far, too.

Megs - sounds like ToT at our house too, no one ever comes through our neighborhood. We went to DH's cousin's house and ToT with them. I walked around with their 18 month old and 5 year old and people kept introducing themselves to me thinking I was their mother. It was very strange.

I got my pumpkin cupcakes made but not exactly as early as I was expecting - I planned to do them Saturday but that didn't work out and I couldnt find any green pull and peel twizzlers to do the vines that I wanted to add but oh well.
